For me is more like "when i have the time i will reply"
Two seconds later: "i believe i have already replied to it so it's fine"
Next day looking at my phone:

Your friends know you have an executive function disorder. They will still be happier to get a response eventually. There might be some gentle ribbing, but it'll be intended to be taken in stride.
- I didn't know I was on the spectrum until I got diagnosed earlier this year; I'd made this comic well before then (/I'm just sharing my old comics in this community) but in hindsight there's a few of them that make more sense to me now that I know.
  
  Hehe, yeah. Well, it's not like there is a small amount of us. And that's without including all the people that just don't know yet. So, it still makes for popular comic material.

Yeah, but how happy would you be to suddenly receive a:
"Hi, apologies for the delayed reply, it turns out I'm really bad at replying to messages. Anyway, I would absolutely love to meet up whenever suits you best - although I do understand you sent that message in 2006, and circumstances have likely changed..."

- Yeah same. I don't have many friends and those I do I neglect. I don't deserve them.
  Just moved house, working 2 jobs, finding it hard to fit everything in

I've been thinking every so often that I need to reply to my friend's text, because it's been a while since he messaged me. Thinking it'd only been a few weeks, maybe a month tops.
He texted me last June.

Oh thank you so much! That's exactly what's happening. I will save it for the next time I take forever to answer.

I don't think day 2 actually requires an apology, it's pretty clear that yesterday was probably busy. The whole advantage of SMS is the messages can be chronologically separated, maybe I like to go through them in the mornings or something.
Day 3, sure I can see wanting to apologize there.

I hate that I do this, but when I do finally respond to an email or letter and it's been too long, I sign off with "Yours eventually"

I just messaged someone after not getting back after 4 years :) . Online friend so not completely crazy to have not communicated.

- Dude this makes me sad. Many times I ended up doing the same thing because I got busy. Then my best friend died and I never got to say goodbye. Sucks.
  
  It really sucks. I didn't get time to talk with my friend for a month. Yesterday I called him after seeing this.
