UN to reduce staff in Gaza, blaming Israel for a strike that killed its employee
The United Nations said Monday it will “reduce its footprint” in the Gaza Strip after an Israeli tank strike hit one of its compounds last week, killing one staffer from Bulgaria and wounding five other employees.
Does the UN not have any power the can exert over this? They seem strangely helpless when militaries misbehave
The United States of America protects Israel and all it's atrocities.
The United Nations is designed to be an open forum for nations to peacefully resolve issues. The body to handle things like this would be the Security Council, which has five permanent members: France, Britain, Russia, China, and the United States, along with a number of randomly selected members.
In this case, the United States is blocking the UN's ability to hold Israel responsible. It's just the United States. The protection of the United States in the international community is the only thing allowing Israel to continue its genocide.
The UN could kick Israel out. But it seems Israel runs the UN office not the other way around.
