I have to verify but like I think Tumblr made it so you can just have a shit ton for funsies and stuff, maybe as a jab to twitter. Not sure if they're paid or not.
Edit: It's a little similar to Reddit, except the badges are for yourself to display. You buy badges just for fun and to support Tumblr I guess. They have a shit ton of options in their mart. The checkmarks are $8, the other badges to be $6. I wanna add screenshots but Voyager is a little mad at me right now.
