Sorry, but its different this time. A much smaller chunk of gen z is good with tech, and most of them struggle with basic concepts (like filesystems). Saying this as a gen z person.

That's all I know of it, except for a few stories of federated porn getting an instance taken offline.
They have taken down instances and services for hosting yuri and some lgbt content.
I think having hexbear and .ml is a good thing, because those users are on those servers. They can be blocked (and properly on piefed :) ), so people who want to interact with them can, and those who don't, don't have to.
