I'm no Canadian passport connoisseur but when were they red? My old one from 10 years ago is blue so I'm not sure what that's about?

- I was wondering, if it's perhaps relatively common between nations for passports to be red, but from some very quick image searching that doesn't really seem to be the case:
  US blue
  UK blue
  France red
  Germany red
  Spain red
  India blue
  China red
  Brazil blue
  
  UK was red pre-brexit
  
  South Africa green
- You probably left the EU or something.
- No one ever said it was red.
  
  But they said it wasn't red. So one would question when they were.
  I think I get it. They are expecting the passport to be red like the flag.

At that size of a passport, in an international emergency, you could use your passport as a shelter or flotation device .... is it also bullet proof?
- The U.S. bulletproof model was proposed for school children. Sadly, Republicans successfully fought against it, because it "Would give the kids an unfair advantage over the school shooters."

- Never thought of it before but they could make sections of this new enormous passport edible .... pages 14 to 16 could be used as an emergency ration if you get caught in a war zone.

Why blue? White with red trimming would be nicer.
- Iirc, you can only choose red, blue, black, and green. Maybe other colors are possible, but not preferred (I can see a white passport looking pretty rough after a couple years, if you’re a heavy traveler). No idea why they wouldn’t stick with red though.
  
  You can see the text on the front of them for what they are for. Blue are regular passports for casual travel. Red are diplomatic passports for high ranking officials. Green are special passports for senators, MPs or government workers on official business. White temporary passports are usually issued abroad where a Canadian citizen has an urgent requirement to travel but doesn't have a passport for whatever reason.
- I believe red is usually reserved for diplomatic type passports.

Why are passports still a booklet? Everything is digital now. We don’t need stamps or visas in the passport anymore. It serves no purpose.

  I never said it had to be an app or a card in your phone’s wallet, although it’s not a bad idea. Passports have chips now. I just think it doesn’t need to be a booklet anymore.

  Nah. My mother had to stay more than two hours in a line in Atlanta’s immigration because the system went down.
- Then they should make an app for Windows 10, because I use Windows 10 Mobile for my phone.
