People who bought obscure emulators; what was your experience like?
When I was a teenager I bought an JXD S7800B and only originally used it to play NES but it was powerful enough to play some N64. I played a lot of Smash Bros for the N64. I believe I got it from a website called Deals Extreme back at the time.
What made me want to ask about this was seeing a device called the X6 on Ali Express which looked a bit like the RGB20S and thinking about all the systems that have been into handheld devices like the Dreamcast and PS2 (that you can occasionally see on Ali Express as well).
I'd link the Austin Evans video where he used a portable PS2 handheld but his titles are such trash clickbait I can't find it.
Edit: I guess what would qualify as an obscure device in my mind is one that wouldn't have a custom firmware or is a rebranded version of another device. Consoles and mods are also pretty neat though.
Judging by this review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VxK63sT2hk I would recommend to spend a bit more. With around 50$ you can have a quite good device.
One of the podcasts I was listening to was talking about that when it first started hitting the scene. It kind of sounds like it's going to be the new V90
In the 90s, my cousin had a Super Wild Card, an awesome device that you put into the cartridge slot of your SNES that allowed it to play games off 3.5" floppy disks. Every time I go over to their apartment I would play all day long.
Is this what it looked like?
Sounds pretty neat. Did it have any noticeable limitations?
Before I modded my Xbox 360 with an RGH3 I was looking briefly at optical drive emulators that allow you to use your own discs and backups. That kind of sounds functionally similar
