Im so confused as to why this is titled "Lemmy Edition" but all the hyperlinks lead back to the privated reddit sub. Maybe I'm missing something. I'll just stick to the rentry link but I'd think it's better off to just remove this to avoid confusion.
One problem. Mullvad, they stopped support for forwarded ports this month.
Ivpn stopped as well. Let's hope this is not a trend..

With mullvad not allowing portforwarding, should we be recommending it?
About port forwarding, is it nessecary to download or just to upload?
I am no expert, but I think it does deal with both? Definitely upload, but I think that if your ports aren't forwarded correctly then you won't get as many download connections?
I've relied on this mega thread for a long time.
Are there any tips to see check if VPN isn't leaking anything when torrenting? Mullvad used to let you check with a magnet link they provided before they got rid of it.
Personally I use the torrent ip check on ipleak.net. You just add the magnet to your client and it'll fail itself and then list the ip on the site.

their domain seems to have been hijacked by a disgruntled former staff member who deliberately ruined the site. maybe you could add the site back? it was quite a useful resource.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this community on social.fossware.space before? Anyone know what happened?
I'm particularly interested because my main Lemmy account was on the fossware instance which seems to have disappeared overnight. Not sure if it's just temporarily down, or was moved here. I definitely can't log in to lemmy.dbzer0.com as my old account.

Hey all, so about 10ish years ago I used to torrent a few things, nothing heavy like games or programs but just TV shows and what not. I got burned pretty bad, had my computer compromised and files encrypted. I was able to salvage most of my rig but a lot of pictures and files were lost to the ether. I want to get back into this but understandably I'm pretty concerned about it. Any tips on getting safely back into sailing the seas?

Hey. I'm a noob pretty much. I was wondering if there is a way to test out TomTom Live traffic services on my Tomtom Rider 50. I bought it used, there's an account on it. I'm scared if I reset it, that the map will be gone. And that's 50โฌ. I didn't find anything so far. Only thing I find is the apk for the mobile app, but nothing for the actual satnav
