I don't know what year this cartoon is actually from, but 80 years ago was 1944, and there were some things going on. Otherwise, I completely agree with the sentiment.
It is from Russian cartoonist Yuliy Ganf in 1953. This is called "In America, This Restaurant Serves Only One Person." It is a satirical critique of US global militarization, which is completely apt then and now.
This is good, but it leaves out the transaction that is happening, since they're definitely not overfunding the military out of the kindness of their non-existent hearts..
They're doing it for profit and power - for land and resources, for cheap or even slave labour that comes from war (either locally and often outsourced, or in the form of refugees and immigration, all often to the very countries who caused the destruction and poverty in the first place, how convenient), for geopolitical control, for sowing division among the global working class to stop us from uniting, and so much more suffering and destruction that all gain a very small group of people complete control over society.
I don't disagree with the sentiment, but i think it's important to remember that the military budget is near 1T but the budget for healthcare spending is nearly 3T.
I mean, you need to be able to survive before you can learn to thrive, but be aware that the skills required for the former are not the same as those required for the latter.
