There's some unrest because the Open Collective Foundation is stopping.
Don't worry, we use Open Collective Europe as a donations platform, they're going nowhere.
We've added some donation platforms, so if you would like to support us running our .world servers, you can do so here:

Reddit gold was such a great method of voluntary monetization. It'd be great if Lemmy would support something like that (although there are a ton of caveats.)
I had a $30/year subscription to Reddit for more than a decade.
The real danger isn't on Lemmy.World, where I think the money would go where intended. The real danger is incentivizing people to spin up small instances in the hopes of collecting.
Please add the crypto addresses to the site sidebar under donations. You also may want to consider accepting BTC, BCH and LTC. Glad your accepting XMR though for private donations.
You can use exchanges like Coinbase Advanced Trading and Kraken Pro to interact directly with the order book. They use the standard maker/taker model. 0.6% for takers on Coinbase Advanced Trading and 0.26% for takers on Kraken Pro. You can use "market" orders if all you want is a buy button and a sell button
I seriously doubt Bitcoin fees are less than PayPal
EDIT: I just checked and the bitcoin transfer fee over the last 3 years was about $1-2, but it has been around $10 the last 3 months. PayPal charges a $2 fee for a $30 payment. The difference is a lot less than I expected.
Oh, and Ruud is a sysadmin of the lemmy.world instance, not a Lemmy dev.
EDIT 2: Ko-fi seems to take a 0% fee on one time transactions.
Is there any preference for y’all on Opencollective vs Patreon? I would us Ko-Fi but not in a place right now to do $5/month, and that seems to be the minimum.
