For that job, it's probably worth staying for that spin. This occurring is almost certainly more likely than the chances of any third party run in living memory had at winning the general.

If he manages to get disqualified, sure, Haley would be the shoe-in replacement. But getting convicted of any of the other stuff doesn't actually stop him from running.
That would only get more support for him from those who blindly worship him. There's no legal restriction.
