Hey, all. Brandon here, with what I consider to be some pretty exciting news. Many of you may remember when I wrote last year about my worries regarding aud ...
That's great to see. Audible is one of the very few services I pay for even knowing how bad it is to reward its creators. Whenever I can, I try to look for an alternative but ultimately audible just has everything.
So even if there's still much to be done and not a trustworthy company, it's good to at least see some improvement.
Also kudos to Sanderson, he gets a lot of flak on the snobbish reading circles but not everyone would have done what he did. He's got a heavy position in the industry and used it for the benefit of many others.
Good to hear for the authors and they deserve more pay, but somewhat to that end I will nitpick that the average cost of credits, or income that Amazon is getting for them, has increased a little over the last couple years in that they have reduced the discounting applied to the bigger yearly credit packs.
So someone on the 24 credit/year plan is paying closer to the monthly price per credit than they used to, meaning Amazon is receiving more money on average than they used to.
I don't have specific examples, but he's said it affects his writing himself. However, I have a lot of similar experience with how the LDS cult works and friends who were raised in it, and with that I can't reasonably trust anyone who aligns themselves with that religion.
