12 0 ReplyThis is an excellent demonstration of why you want to be very careful around large capacitors even if they haven't been powered up for a while.
11 0 ReplyYup. Remember guys, if you open something and say "wow those capacitors look a lot bigger than normal", close it up gently and don't touch it. Even if it's been unplugged for DAYS, these types of caps can still carry enough charge to hurt like hell at the least, and blow up in your face at worst.

8 0 ReplyI once took a 5 Farad capacitor and connected it directly to a 1 Ω resistor.
It burned up and gave off an awful smell.
