Working fully-remote here too and I have two cats which especially love to cuddle with me (and the warm laptop) during work and breaks :)

Sounds like treason to me, simply report them to your Democracy Officer and I'm sure your workplace will be back on track in no time.
We just had a whole talk about our "retrospective" about how random edicts from management have costs. I don't think anyone in a position to take that feedback is going to listen, though.
