If not for such tests, all we have to go on are ads (or subjective opinions of reviewers with limited market access and methodology).

It's insane with all the problems OLEDS have that they feel justified charging more than a thousand dollars for a monitor. A monitor that no matter what will eventually get burn in.
Definitely one of the stupidest things I have heard on Lemmy, as far as tech goes. LCDs have a far slower burn in rate than OLED screens, but OLEDs have gotten way mature in the last decade. Few years ago, I would have said it still needs a lot of work, but the situation is significantly better. MicroLED might still be the next goal though.
