We've had years to upgrade air filtration and ventilation in public buildings and offices and have barely done shit. If we got people to wear n95s in public we could stop most of the damage, but they absolutely will not spend the "political capital" to do so.

It at least can jump between animals to farm workers, and is found in raw milk (barn cats drinking raw milk caught it). unpasteurized milk is also a risk and theres definitely people drinking that. its not well adapted to human spread yet but letting it spread unchecked through the US's like 40 million cows and potentially other animals too, is a great way for it to acquire the mutations necessary to get a foothold in humans and start killing.
