  • It is a good idea to post a TL;DW when posting a video link.

I have noticed that some users here don't have time to watch videos. I think on most of the video links I share here, there are always users commenting that it is better to read an article than watching this video. To be honest, I don't like all this complaining. It is kind of annoying.

So to make the users who dont have time to watch a video happy. Post a tldw summary. You dont have to write it yourself or anything. Just use chatgpt or something similar.

I have also noticed that there is better engagement and discussions when a tldw is posted.

  • Why do most people choose to use WhatsApp over telegram??
    1. Whatsapp is more popular.
    2. It has a lot of scammers. Especially crypto scammers.
    3. A little bit more difficult to use. There are so many features and it can kind lf get overwhelming.
    4. Messages are not end to end encrypted by default.

  • 5 Things LINUX MINT Objectively Does Better Than WINDOWS 11

TLDW of this video from ChatGPT

The video highlights the following main points about why Linux Mint is considered better than Windows 11:

    1. Start Menu and Customization: Linux Mint's menu is more organized and customizable than Windows 11's start menu. It offers three columns, resizable icons, and customizable labels.

    2. Taskbar (Panel) Features: Linux Mint's panel is more flexible, allowing repositioning, resizing, and creation of additional panels. Applets enhance functionality, offering features like quick desktop access and window behavior customization.

    3. Privacy and Telemetry: Linux Mint is privacy-focused, avoiding telemetry. Certain apps' telemetry can be manually disabled. Windows 11 is criticized for lacking privacy.

    4. Bloatware and Pre-installed Apps: Linux Mint has minimal bloatware, including useful tools or open-source alternatives. Windows 11 can have cluttered start menus with unwanted icons.

    5. Batch File Renaming and Management: Linux Mint's file management includes advanced batch renaming with insertion, removal, and case conversion. Windows 11 lacks similar features.

    6. Security (Future Topic): Security is mentioned as a potential future topic, with Linux Mint considered more privacy-oriented than Windows 11. Discussions about security are acknowledged.

The narrator encourages viewer engagement and discussion on the covered topics.

This Shouldn't Still Be So Hard

    TLDW from ChatGPT:

    >The video is a critique of the Debian Linux distribution's website and its user experience, primarily focusing on the difficulties in finding and downloading the appropriate ISO images. The presenter praises Debian's stability and community but criticizes the website's design, stating that it's not user-friendly, especially for new Linux users. The video highlights how the website layout, multiple clicks, and confusing file tree structure can make it challenging to locate the desired ISO images, particularly for the live installer versions. The presenter suggests that while improvements have been made, the ISO download process can still be convoluted and feels like the distribution is not encouraging new users. The overall message conveys a desire for Debian to make its ISOs more easily accessible and user-friendly.

The join lemmy instance page really needs a revamp

The number of Lemmy instances are growing and the list on join-lemmy is getting bigger and bigger. There are too many instances on the page and it is hard for new user to find which instance is suitable for them.

In my opinion, the instances should be categorized on the basis of the region, topic, etc. Something also should be done to promote smaller instances and reduce the traffic on the main instance and lemmy.world instance.

Mastodon categorizes the instances and gives a brief overview of each instance.

do you turn on read reciepts in your messaging apps?

I dont use read reciepts on WhatsApp. I keep it off. So I cannot see if a person has read my message or the sender of a message cannot see Ihave read their message. Status update views are also hidden.

Other messaging apps also have this feature. I personally don't like it. Do you?
