i don't know how things are in Australia, but i do know how misogyny is so common in American schools. you can't think of it as being individual failures on behalf of the teachers. you have to think of this as entire system of patriarchy that selects for individuals who are less likely to resist it.

firstly are the weed out systems:

1. a school teacher needs 4-6 years worth of higher education to be eligible to teach meaning a school teacher is more likely to come from a wealthier, more conservative background
2. a school teacher is paid poverty wages, making them more reliant on spousal support, creating a soft reinforcement of traditional gender roles
3. teachers are hired by administrators who are usually men, men who can have unaudited privilege in the system of patriarchy, creating bias in what they consider "professional" for a teacher towards someone who will fit into this overall system

then there's the reinforcement systems

1. you are genuinely correct that most teachers are more progressive when it comes to social issues, but they are also making poverty wages meaning they're more reliant on the job. they're more desperate and therefore less likely to upset the apple cart
2. teachers are not the only people who interact with kids. administrators are usually who operate the punishment system in a school. this punishment system creates an interplay between the nurturing mother stock character and the disciplinary father stock character. the disciplinary father stock character in his role will often hand children mysogynistic views very directly.

i can speak to this very directly. my uncle thought he was working on making nuclear power more renewable. but what was really happening is that depleted fuel rods are the magic sauce that makes thermonuclear devices (hydrogen bombs) work. even now, i do not truly believe the nuclear powered ai centers are about the progress of man, but rather an excuse to set up extraction economies stripping the earth of her natural resources to then be turned against the working poor who mined the wealth for their overlords in the form of weapons of instantaneous genocide. the only arguments i'm willing to hear in favor of nuclear are to decommission old petrochemical plants, but none of the nuclear plans being presented now have these provisions. the capital hoarders do not propose to sunset any coal, and accuse you of being a pro-petrochemical luddite when you stand in the way of their nuclear proposals.

it was an F-16A, too. even the most updated F-16A Block 15 aircraft are still just… from another era of aircraft entirely. the f-16 may now be demonstrating itself to be the plateau of combat aircraft as it outcompetes more up to date jets and drone combat changes what aerial combat even is. the F-22 and F-35 are more advanced, to be sure, but i'm more and more questioning if that means anything, or more, if that's not actually a major design flaw in more modern craft

Simone Biles is america. her poverty and experience with race are our original sins. her story of survival in the face of sexual violence is half of our truth, and a truth half of us don't take the time to hear. her refusal to conform to the narrative assigned to her is our work ethic and our belligerence in the face of the exploitation we all go through. her being visibly supporting the queer people in her community is huge. it gives us a morale boost, and it also is a powerful act of allyship in that she is beloved in places that voted red this past fall. she's loathed in some of them for really gross reasons, but she has the ears of people who saw this and started the process of reconsidering
