YouTube is finally cracking down on third-party apps like ReVanced
  • I quit when they took away the dislike counter, so many said they would but didn't. All I ever see about Youtube is people complaining about their new shitty tactics... just leave, it''s the ONLY way to get any changes. They will never change if people keep using the platform.

Suck it up, leave, you won't regret it.

  • Connecting or disconnecting a bluetooth keyboard resets Voyager back to default view

Using Android, latest version of the app. I use a bluetooth keyboard to type on my phone when I'm at home. When ever I have Voyager open when it connects or disconnects from the bluetooth keyboard, Lemmy refreshes back to the default view and sorting order, even if i'm creating a post.

I have my defaults set to open on All with sorting order is Top from the last 12 hours. If i'm browsing Local and have changed it to Active and then scroll away, if I disconnect the keyboard, it immediately resets back to All and Top from the last 12 hours.

Even when I went to write this post, I had the subject field written, decided to try and disconnect the keyboard and it once again reset back to All and Top. Thankfully I didn't lose everything I had typed... this time.

Any ideas?! Physical keyboards on Android seems to be really quirky at times.

Any Lemmy community suggestions for solar lights?

I'm struggling to find any communities on Lemmy, maybe someone can point me in the right direction?

It's a really dumb and minor question but it's driving me nuts trying to find a decent solution.

I've got some of those metal outdoor lanterns that have a small round solar panel on the top and an LED. They work great in the summer but there just isn't enough charge in the winter for them to get fully charged... the problem is, EVERY single one I've found ONLY charges when it's turned ON.

There seems to be 1000s of replacements on Amazon but I've not found a single one that charges while off...

I'd really like some that I can keep off but will charge anyway so I can turn them on when I'm actually using them in Winter.

Dumb question but maybe someone can point me to a Lemmy community that can help!

(posted this on lemmy.world too but I can't figure out how to do a crosspost using Voyager)

    Alexa repeating calendar notifications twice

Not sure where best to post this on Lemmy but here goes...

I've got a single Google calendar enabled on my Alexa. I've set 'announcement count' to 1.

Every single time I have a calendar reminder on my Echo, it says it twice in a row, which is very annoying.

I've seen posts from 5 years ago complaining of the same issue, has anyone found a fix? Seems bonkers it's not been fixed.

Android - Text selection erratic as hell

On both the standard version and Firefox Focus (both from Play Store), when ever I try and select text to copy the page jumps around erratically. Sometimes it selects all the text on the screen, sometimes it jumps to the top of the page.

It's become impossible to select any sections of text. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this?

    thanks

  • "If you’re connected to your network using an Ethernet cable or WiFi, the first step is to unplug the cable or disconnect your computer from WiFi. For WiFi connections, you can skip the process at the beginning of the setup wizard by clicking the back icon on the Windows 10 Setup toolbar, and then try and create a Microsoft account.

Alternatively, press Airplane Mode key on the laptop to disconnect WiFi or unplug the router for a minute, if all else fails. When you see the “Something went wrong” error message, click Skip to skip the account creation step. "

Basically, let it error when trying to set up an account, press back and you'll find it. Stupid but it's not difficult

  • Then and now
  • It's just such a common misconception that there was no ads in the 'old Internet', that's all I was pointing out. There seems to be a nostalgic false memory that Internet back then didn't have ads which is hilarious if you were there to see what it was like

I'm a beautiful woman, most men would say "yes" to me but I'll never know until I stop being shy, low self-esteem, awkward, aloof. How to get from "Whoa I'm attracted to him," to sealing the deal?
  • And the younger you understand that, the better.

I've sadly seen some attractive people grow up with completely warped senses of reality purely because of how others have treated them. Never had to use their brain once to get anything, sadly they can lack really basic people skills as they get older.

It's sad because some don't understand that they've been handed things all their life without having to ask so don't understand when they get older and suddenly have to make an effort.

Obviously this isn't every attractive person at all but the problem seems unique to those that are/were attractive. The entitlement and lack of respect for others time and effort is baffling for 30/40 year olds.

  • Then and now
  • What are you talking about, ads were far worse back in the 90s /2000. Were you even using the Internet back then? Couldn't block them and things like infinite pop ups were rampant, if you didn't have a firewall setup and anti virus, your entire Windows 98 setup could be wrecked in minutes just being online

  • Any way to reorder the long press menu?

    Samsung S10 using Android 12.

I've finally managed to remove the 'Search on Bing' option (had uninstall Outlook.. Damn you Microsoft).

I've finally managed to disable the "Add event" button by not only disabling "Smart suggestions" but I also had to disable the system app before it would go.

Ideally I'd like the most common used buttons up front - cut, copy and paste.

    Any suggestions?

It'll hopefully be a keyboard and mouse for me
  • Tried tried and tried... Some things there are no going back from and injuries of this type can be one of them. Of the hand full of specialists I've seen about it, all of them said the same.

  • Trying and failing to like Conkers Bad Fur Day

I should love this game... I've been trying for years to get in to it, keep thinking it will get better just round the corner but... It's so damn tedious!

I'm at a point near the start where I've just fed the mouse/rat 3 bits of cheese and now I'm trying to climb up and...? Jump in some water? I just keep falling and dying over and over.

Just having a rant! Really want to like this game as much as others seem to...

Have watched TOS - Enterprise. Will watching Discovery-SNW increase my enjoyment of Lower Decks?
  • Probably get down voted for this but I'm new to Star Trek online discussion so be kind :) - people didn't like Discovery?

Sure it took a bit to find its feet but I thought the last series was excellent!

But then I loved Picard by the end of series 3 too so many I'm alone here.

Either way, loving all the Star Trek shows coming out these days, was nothing for so long and now...

  • Slowly scrolling back up refreshes feed

Any time I slowly scroll back up to a post it always seems to refresh the entire list of posts... I'm sure it didn't used do that... It's useful to be able to refresh but it's far too sensitive. Any way to disable or am I doing something wrong here?
