Man puts his head in Geneva's famous water jet, currently in hospital
  • 140m high and 200km/h or 500 liters/second. Close look on YT for the non GVA people https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmt9GQSCcCU

I really don't get it, you can feel its power when you get to the barrier. This thing reeks of "do not get closer" feeling.

Yet, that dude decided to kiss it. He could have won the 2023 Darwin award but he was very lucky.

  • Air travel has gotten more violent. Flight attendants want training to fight back.
  • 95% of the time it was every time.

But you’re right, a mate is an A320 captain and unruly pax are 98% of the time somewhat intoxicated. The 2 remaining % are just stupid people thinking they are above anyone else (like rushing to stand up right after landing to be first out and have a smoke on the tarmac while waiting for his family, yeah true story).

    • 256Gb nvme for Windows
    • 1Tb nvme for some games
    • 8Tb ssd raid for other games and whatever junk I need.

With the price of sata ssd it’s easy to slowly build an ssd raid for gaming.

  • [RANT] I pay $70/mo for this privilege
  • The sad thing is you only need one company to enter the market with aggressive prices so the others are forced to react (and admit they were abusing their clients).

That’s what happened in France with Free, and now everyone can have 15 to 30€ good internet. Caps are something never heard of. Later they did the same thing with mobile networks and now most of Europe have cheap unlimited no roaming etc. Zero company went bankrupt, they just had to learn how to reduce their margins.

    As a result I have a 10Gb/10Gb fiber with tv for 40$

  • Why are you single?
  • I’m getting divorced as we speak, nothing is officially signed yet but it will come.

After 13 years of this relationship, I want to be alone at home and won’t be looking for any romance any time soon. Just plain old « enjoyment » and we’ll see what happens in the future.

  • Shift workers 'can't all adjust to a night shift'
  • Yup, working shifts since almost 20 years, my only motivation for becoming an entrepreneur is to be able to stop working those hours...

And I am not working for a shit company, we are treated very well and are probably amongst the top 5% luckiest employees in our country. But working shifts sucks, no matter how you sugarcoat it, it still sucks.

  • This is not a forecast for 50 years time, it’s happening today.
  • And regulations for less pavement, concrete etc and more green and trees to provide shade and cooler temperatures.

You can live in extreme temperatures, provided the infrastructures are built for that (ie. Ouarzazate in Morocco).

But with the US urban planning and all for cars policy it won’t happen before it’s too late.

  • After spending the last day as a rocket ship, there's now an active effort underway to reconstruct the /r/place guillotine
  • The former vice president ? Oh I get that, coming from those crazy MF following Trump, Q etc that would be frightening as they’ll probably do it and celebrate the act.

You’re right that violence should not be encouraged, I believe this is why Reddit is censoring the guillotine but not the fuck u/spez.

  • After spending the last day as a rocket ship, there's now an active effort underway to reconstruct the /r/place guillotine
  • Well it is just a symbol for us french. Nobody would behead someone nowadays, we won't even behead our president. It is only a graphic form of saying "fuck you".

Ok, maybe one or two strange dude would try to really use a guillotine, but fuck them as well.

  • Anyone else gradually stopped drinking alcohol?
  • I stopped after a last hangover and 20 years of heavy drinking.

I decided to, so I read the book "this naked mind" as I was told it is a good start and it seems to have worked on me. It's only been a bit more than a month now, but I don't feel like drinking and I don't even think about it so that's cool.

    Good luck on this journey.

  • Passengers carted off in stretchers as Vegas flight stranded in extreme heat
  • I think the problem is about slot management and the way they work.

In ATC, at least in Europe but FAA is probably more or less the same, your flight can get delayed for whatever reason (meteo, atc capacity, airport etc…).

In case of a delay you get a SAM, slot allocation message with a new EOBT (estimated off block time). You can shorten this waiting time by various means, you will get an SRM (slot revision) and in order to be certain that you won’t miss this slot (or get a new worst one) you have to send a ready message.

Ready means door closed, ready for pushback. And that’s the problem here, that’s how you get stuck in an airplane on the ground, cause you’re « ready ».

That sucks, but a crew will generally not board a plane if they have a huge non negociable slot. But if they think the slot could improve so they can stick to their schedule, you’ll probably end up waiting in a shitty overcrowded cabin.

And sometimes it’s the airport doing shit like pre boarding a plane so they can pack passengers for another flight at the gate.

Wow, the more I write about how the industry work, the more I hate it. Time to change career.

French Courts Are Giving Protesters INSANE Sentences
  • Nothing for now. He asked for liberation until his court case, justice said no.

So he is still sleeping in prison. Apparently he and his colleague gave contradictory statements the IGPN (the police of police).

I believe he will get time, but probably not that much and all the prison time made before the court count as well.

So, protests incoming for the verdict in what, one year ?
