Ethiopian here, Ethiopia was never colonized but unfortunately we've managed to be incredibly anti-lgbtq all on our own.
Personally, I blame our long history of Christianity and Islam which both carry anti-lgbtq beliefs.
It’s a potentially powerful alliance with one of the biggest unions in the US.
From the article: Amazon Labor Union workers have joined forces with one of biggest unions in the US, hoping to get Amazon to the bargaining table.
Thanks for your answer. You're right, I was hoping to get more answers on the bigger picture change that would happen to society. Particularly since coops and credit unions are more democratic in nature, I wonder how different society would be with more direct control of how they money is managed.
Thanks for your answer!
Thanks for the answer!
You mentioned paying for everything via card or mobile. Does that mean credit unions offer no options to withdraw cash?
Also can banks permanently limit withdrawals or transfers?
Can credit union and coop banks replace traditional banks completely?
Edit (adding additional question): Has there been an attempt to do this on a national or societal level?
Thanks!
Newbie here, can this be installed on any phone?

Last time this happened, Earth got plants.
From the article:
Scientists have caught a once-in-a-billion-years evolutionary event in progress, as two lifeforms have merged into one organism that boasts abilities its peers would envy. Last time this happened (1.6 billion years ago), certain advanced cells absorbed a type of bacteria that could harvest energy from sunlight. These became organelles called chloroplasts, which gave sunlight-harvesting abilities, as well as a fetching green color, to a group of lifeforms you might have heard of – plants.
And now, scientists have discovered that it’s happening again. A species of algae called Braarudosphaera bigelowii was found to have engulfed a cyanobacterium that lets them do something that algae, and plants in general, can’t normally do – "fixing" nitrogen straight from the air, and combining it with other elements to create more useful compounds.
I don't have an answer to this but I'm glad the question is being asked and I hope it will start up again or something better will take its place!
Some novels that I want to read don't have audiobooks so I'm looking for a foss text to speech software that help with this.
This awesome if its possible. The article said they would try reduce costs by closer partnerships with Google and Qualcomm but I don't think hat will get them to reduce their prices that drastically. I hope I'm wrong though!
I thought the title said Lloyd Banks and was surprised that a member of G-Unit was into paleontology.

Thanks for sharing. Do you know if this is a permanent thing or if the Lemmy team is working on it? If they are working on it, how can non technical people like myself help?

Side question: Is there a way way to share from Mastadon to Lemmy directly?
I agree with you on all of this except the point on Bumi. I think the change to his character is great and makes him feel more realistic! It felt like the live action Bumi was trying to be as fun loving as animation Bumi but can't hide how deeply the war has changed him for the worst, which makes sense since he is probably the only one (or only handful of people) to have lived and fought through a hundred years of war. He's also trying to be a good friend to Aang but can't help but feel resentful towards him for abandoning his role as the avatar.
This was great addition as well!
I like that in the netflix version they added scenes that weren't in the original. My favorite is the scene of Lu Ten's funeral. Iroh is just sitting there silent but you can see on his face that is he is broken inside but everyone comes up to him and congratulates him that his son died a hero. No one says it but for me it felt like in the fire nation culture you're not allowed to mourn the death of those who died in battle, which is a crazy concepts but fits with the Fire Nations fascist ideology.
I couldn't find the whole scene, but here is the last part of it (https://yewtu.be/watch?v=hwPn2gJ1B_U). For context, Zuko has gone up to Iroh and said that Lu Ten's death is great honor. But when he was about to leave he comes back and thats when the above video starts.
These scenes add so much to the character of Iroh, Zuko, Lu Ten (whose character we did know anything about in the original) and to war-time Fire Nation culture. It's amazing!

Ethiopian here. The government has already banned import of combustion cars a few months ago. I think it was a great move both environmental reasons and for saving money by reducing oil imports as more and more people switch to electric cars.
Had a dull knife for a while and recently bought a new knife last week. Underestimated how sharp the new knife was and accidentally cut into the surface of my thumb
Thanks for the answer and for suggesting the documentary!(excited to have my head hurt even more after watching it😂)
Thanks for the answer. I'm confident you're correct but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around drawing a line with an irrational length. If we did draw a right angled triangle with two sides equal to 1cm and we measured the hypotenuse physically with a ruler, how would we measure a never ending number? How would we able to keep measuring as the numbers after the decimal point keep going forever but the physical line itself is finite?
I am wrong in thinking the circumference or the diameter of a circle has to be rational?
Thank you!
I've seen brilliant's website and I like the fact that they make have alot of interactive visually engaging content but I don't know if it's worth the price or if there is any free possibly non profit version available that is just as interactive and visually engaging way to learn different math and science topics that you would recommend. Thanks for reading
I drive on my commute to work. I wouldn't mind offering a free ride to people who are going the same direction as I am. The public transportation system is not very good where I live, so I would guess a lot people would be interested. Is there some kind website or app where I can write where and when I'm going, so people who are going the same direction and time can connect with me? There would be no payment involved at all. It would be a rewarding social thing do as a driver and if a lot of people started doing it, I would go as a rider once in a while as well.
