I dunno, a whole month to dwell on what losers they were seems like overkill.
"Don't get in my way" works when you're actually doing something yourself. But this guy isn't going to do shit, he's an acting manager. If people get out of his way and do nothing, he's going to accomplish nothing. The order he's looking for is "do what I say".
"I, and I alone in FEMA, speak for FEMA," Richardson said.
Ok, you're going to be doing the press briefings and writing the releases then? Go for it big man.
"...I took my Marines to Iraq, eleven of them"
Oooooh, ELEVEN whole marines! Wow, what a prestigious career in leadership.
"We're going to find out how to push things down to the states," the acting leader later added. "That should be done at the state level. Also going to find out how we can do more cost sharing with the states."
I assume this is the royal "we", as your only instruction is to not get in your way.
Read the whole article, there're more dumb statements. This guy is a big old clown. I'm sure many people there care deeply about their jobs, either for the mission or for maintaining a steady paycheck, but like the petulant doge pups, I think I'd just openly mock a boss who acted like that.
Also, many times you're not supposed to stop at yield signs. I assume he means "ever, including when someone else is in the roadway", but it's just a muddled statement.
It's so late in the process for them to be tiptoeing around with "inclined to" and temporary pauses.
If this was federal land with a federal building I could imagine some legal opinion that lets them be fire traps outside the jurisdiction of the city, but just because the federal government leases a facility doesn't make it then an exclusively federal building.
A law degree and being elected DA for a random county in NY doesn't make you qualified any more than managing a corner store qualifies you to be the CEO of Walmart. It's not just the passage of time that makes her unqualified.
And yeah, they have a whole (racist lie) mantra about how hiring anyone who's not white is denying society the benefit of a more qualified white man, but literally all their hires are not just temperamentally unsuited to the job, but unqualified and incompetent. You can't select for absolute loyalty to a senile imbecile and also for merit. They can still be plenty evil, especially when no aspect of civil society seems to be willing to stop them, but if they were competent it would be so much worse.
Oh it's a complete joke. She's not remotely qualified for the position, but Trump watches her on TV. Also her previous "judge" position was elected. She didn't go through any kind of hearing or confirmation, just said political things that the voters liked.
It's a real job. It's a little weird because it's actually for Washington, D.C., which is just a city, but a very important city that gets controlled by the federal government in a lot of ways.
Edit: To clarify, she wouldn't be in court arguing cases, but will be making decisions and managing prosecutors.
Casey Means has no government experience and dropped out of her surgical residency program, saying she became disillusioned with traditional medicine.
She was probably told she wouldn't pass residency, because paying the expense of medical school and then not getting licensed to practice medicine is insane.
No I'm not, and that's the whole point. Most right-wing gun owners are just hobbyists too, but some bleeding edge of them showed up when their side declared "tyranny" was afoot (aka vaccine requirements or woke schoolboards). If there's some deep well of good guy gun owners that will (some day) make all the dead kids worth it, you'd expect some bleeding edge to be showing the colors, declaring the stakes, and putting the government on notice.
I think one important thing about this is that it doesn't fit under normal tariff structure, so it can't just pop up whole cloth because he feels like it. Trump's been working entirely on executive orders using previously ceded powers, if he wants a new cinema or broadcast tax, he'd need an actual law.
These terms are just shorthand. They're defined in law.
It's their whole excuse for why protecting their hobby is important. When it matters they'll convert from fetishists to patriots. They finally have their chance to prove that all the dead children was worth it. If that's not happening then none their deadly hobby is just a hobby, to be regulated and restricted like drag racing or fireworks.
When I say “know guns”, I don’t mean just that they know how to shoot–which most cops and mil people can’t do for shit----I mean know how they work, and why they’re designed the way that they are.
None of this is rocket science. Your side hobby isn't a PhD program that no lowly normie could comprehend without years of jerking off to gun specs.
We’re right at the point of gov’t tyranny right NOW
And I notice a conspicuous lack of "patriots" reacting at all. We've had years excusing dead kids in the name of deterrence against a tyrannical government and now people are getting kidnapped by masked men without identification or documentation and the people getting in the way and showing up at detention centers are unarmed women.
Lots of cops and ex-military in favor of gun control. Not all people who know guns love them being easily and widely available.
Hawaii's Democratic Party spans from the left to the right. The only people who get elected as Republicans are the truly insane.
But generally, Hawaii supports strict gun laws, so this seems like a surprising result.
YUP. Seems like an important contradiction where a good journalist could then go to the bill text and determine which one of them is lying.
This is the same argument as bringing on the Cheneys or throwing minorities under the bus. Just because someone is a Democratic voter doesn't mean they're in the bag and all policy should be crafted for what you think are the "gettable" votes in the middle. And I know anti-gun independents. Don't confuse your personal preferences with being a silent majority. Gun control polls with majority support.
