Tulsi Gabbard Would Be a Shock to the U.S. Intelligence System - Drop Site News
  • I think there's a point where that stuff is a distinction without a difference, whether something is a sub-organization of an existing thing or it's own separate thing. The fact that there are 18 is pointless by itself. Just have one! But it is what it is, you can't just reorganize and consolidate and move things around constantly because then no work can get done.

  • Trump transition team compiling list of current and former U.S. military officers for possible courts-martial
  • Well, Trump would run again. Then he'd either get blocked from ballots, they would sue, and the supreme court would say he's allowed to. Or he would win the election, someone would bring a case arguing that it's unconstitutional for him to take office, and the supreme court would disagree.

And the way those lawsuits often work is the person gets to keep doing the thing of questionable legality. So he could probably still get on ballots and run, even if there's a lawsuit.

  • China Exposes Another U.S. “Prism” Program
  • It's kinda funny because 90% of the traffic is just going to be people connecting to whatever online service with known public IPs. But I guess that tells you what household is using what online service. Maybe which businesses are doing network communication with what other businesses i.e. they have some kind of data integration, etc.

Another interesting thing to know would be how detailed the routing table information different countries and intelligence agencies have. You can easily use a service that can tell you where you are located based on your IP address, but it's usually limited to city, state/province, or country. I wonder if for example, the US has the routing tables for specific Chinese neighborhoods or specific houses or apartments.

Google Maps can show South Korea in detail now (as of 3 years ago, going by reddit posts)

Up until 3 years ago I guess (thought it was more recent tbh), it would show blurry images instead of vector maps and satellite, but it looks like it's detailed now.

Previously I think Google had to comply with some protectionist policy that South Korea had in place so that people would use South Korean maps, or something like that.

IOI members vote to bar Israel from competing Olympiad over Gaza war

Seems like a cool organization. It looks like it has over 90 countries as members, including Cuba, Russia, Iran, China, Vietnam, etc.

Israel is still listed on the members page and the competition this year already just happened, so lets see if they actual commit to banning Israel by the time the next one comes around https://ioinformatics.org/page/members

One-on-one with prime minister of Solomon Islands

You can skip past the parts with the CGTN correspondent. They copy western reporter style way too much lol. Basically the newer prime minister/government in the Solomon Islands is continuing it's cooperation with China. And the usual "mutual respect/win-win cooperation" language that countries use when talking about relations with China and vice versa.

    > Yet in the hours before Salaam spoke at the convention, many Americans were learning for the first time that the DNC had removed its goal of ending capital punishment from its official platform. The issue had previously been enshrined in the party platform for years, with the language in 2016 especially robust: “We will abolish the death penalty, which has proven to be a cruel and unusual form of punishment,” it read. “It has no place in the United States of America.”
