  • Unfortunately this seems to be my experience and perspective too. White guys who think this strongly that we're victimized or disenfranchised make me very suspicious of what the rest of their worldview entails.

  • Sure, I can appreciate that in cases where it feels particularly forced or inorganic. However, to the extent that the tech/software world aligns with academia or leadership, it's such a common trope that white guys are very predominant in these positions of authority and conduct themselves like this to women constantly. It doesn't feel inorganic I guess because of that frame of awareness.

So I do agree that mentioning race like this is sure to be received poorly, but I struggle to weigh that aspect of her post in the focused magnitude that others here as significant compared to her treatment.

  • White dude here. It's super easy to read something like this without feeling disenfranchised or bullied. Sure we can do better to avoid it, but that should not at all be the main takeaway from this testimonial. Why aren't you angry at the common propensity for women in places of academic and professional authority being looked down upon and disrespected like this? This is super common.

  • Im still undecided about if it looks fun though
  • I have yet to have a solid informed grasp of whether Palworld manifested their sources of inspiration in good faith, but my tentative opinion at the moment is that hopefully this presses the Pokemon Company to innovate and elevate their overall game. The switch generation to me represented a generation of mismanagement and obvious management generated timelines and barriers, which is super unfortunate for Pokemon's transition to a console.

    Competition hopefully might change that.

  • Split second is the horror movie I saw way too early in my life. I can't remember the circumstances but I may have been 4-5 seeing a particularly scary scene in the basement of my grandparents house.

Descent would have fucked me up, the claustrophobia messed with me seeing it as an adult.

  • YouTube is slowing down for users with ad blockers in new wave
  • I know, right? But I suppose their reasoning is that my ads are also blocked across the rest of their ecosystem, my subscription isn't covering those losses.

Still though, a model that requires that customers look at something they don't want to nor will engage with smells like failure.

  • I can't remember what video I watched that talked about the unsustainabilty and likely the late stages of an ad revenue driven internet content model, and this situation reeks of that.

I don't know what new paradigm might replace it if this is the case, but the current model feels like it's absolutely failing.

  • So I have YouTube premium but also have ad-blocker, for the first time yesterday I was noticing absolutely abysmal speeds on YouTube and I suspect this is why. I thought my computer was starting to shit the bed initially it was so brutal.
