  • Wearing glasses with the Vision Pro is not really an option. You need a pretty tight fit for it to work properly. There are prescription magnetic inserts that can be ordered for $149.

I’m nearsighted, and the inserts I purchased are extremely easy to put in and remove. You would need to check if they can work with your prescription.

Vision Pro - Community Question Thread

For those interested in the Vision Pro, let me know what questions you have about the device. I’ll be getting mine this afternoon and will be trying out all the features.

    Here are some helpful links:
    Apple User Guide

  • You’re able to connect an external keyboard and mouse. I’ll test it out and report back how it works.

Edit: it seems you can’t connect a mouse. It has to be the Magic Trackpad.

I’ll probably create a pinned post for questions the community has about the device. From there, I’ll answer as many as I can.

  • Yes, when talking about the future of the technology I mistyped.

  • Same here, I’ve used other VR headsets for years, and I’m looking forward to how this will advance the future of VR as a whole.

I get mine on Friday and can’t wait try out all the functionality along with the new apps.

Hands-on: I’ve tried Apple’s Vision Pro and these are the five things to be most excited about - iMore

No matter if you feel the price tag is too high, or feel it’s a gimmick that won’t appeal to many, the Vision Pro will usher in a new era of apps and products.

To me, this is similar to when the iPhone was getting ready to be released. Many said it was expensive, had no keyboard, was too big and wide to be comfortably held, and would never sell. That all started to change once people got their hands on the device.

I feel that the Vision Pro will have the same effect, but this is one device you’ll truly need to test out and experience. Based on those that have been fortunate enough to actually use it, it’s not a gimmick.

Holiday Gifts - What Are You Hoping to Get?

It’s almost that time! Was there an Apple product on your wish list? Share with the community what you’re hoping to get?

    Apple @lemmy.world

With the holiday season here, although you may not be getting a Vision Pro, it may not be a bad idea to record special moments with spatial video. Just in case.

When launching a new product, having content ready for the device is key. It will be interesting to see what additional content becomes available before and at launch.

Appleinsider: Apple Watch Crash Detection saves another life: mine

Crash detection is one of those features you forget about having on your watch or phone, but it makes a huge impact when it's needed.

    Apple @lemmy.world

It’s amazing how the cameras on our phones keep evolving.

  • And the event has ended, which apparently was all shot on an iPhone and edited on a Mac.
It was a 30-minute presentation, straight and to the point. However, I don't know if this really needed to be a special event on a Monday night before Halloween.

  • The iMac is being upgraded with the M3 chip. I was hoping for a better screen and different colors.

  • OK, the new Macbook Pros are FAST!!! And in a new color. Oh, it's Space Black.

  • Three new chips: M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max on 3nm with "Dynamic Caching."

  • Wow, they are updating the Macbook Pro.

  • The event is starting...
Starting off with a Mac-related video showing off how people use their Macs.
I love it. They used the Apple logo as the Moon.

  • The video feed is live now. As in previous events, Apple is streaming music, this time Spooky-inspired.

Song - Dark (feat. Greentea Peng) by Goldie, James Davidson and Subjective
Song - Ride or Die by Sevdaliza & Villano Antillano
Song - HAHA by Not the Twos
Song - A Barely Lit Path by Oneohtrix Point Never

  • The Apple store is officially down.

Scary Fast Apple Live Event Discussion Thread

We are 30 minutes away from the Scary Fast Apple event.

I came across an Apple event bingo card from the Basic Apple Guy blog.

Are there any items on the list you don't expect to happen or 100% sure will happen? Is there anything missing? Let's get the conversation started.

    Apple @lemmy.world

We’ll be posting live commentary starting 30 minutes before the event begins on Monday, October 30th.

Come join us on Monday to discuss any last minute predictions and see if the Mac focused event is indeed “scary”.

iOS 17.2 Beta 1: Journal App, Translate Action, iMessage Sticker Reactions and More

Are there any features in iOS 17.2 that you’re looking forward to?

    Apple @lemmy.world

iOS 17.1 and Apple WatchOS 10.1 Double Tap Option

With iOS 17.1 and watchOS 10.1 being released today, for those that own an Apple Watch Series 9, you can now use the new Double Tap feature.

To check out the options, go to the Apple Watch app and select Gestures/Double Tap.

Release Notes: Double tap gesture can be used to perform the primary action in notifications and most apps so you can answer a call, play and pause music, stop a timer, and more (Available on Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2)

  • That’s a good point. I almost forgot about the new Journal app.

    22nd Anniversary of the iPod

With the 22nd anniversary of the iPod having occurred on October 23rd, which was your first iPod?

Here’s a picture of mine. I have it, along with several other previous models.

iOS 17 Tip of the Week: Password Options

With the introduction of iOS 17 last month, there’s a new feature that some may overlook. Did you know that verification codes can be automatically deleted from Messages or email?

Here’s how to make sure it’s turned on.

Go to Settings / Passwords / Password Options

Under Verification Codes, turn on “Cleanup Automatically”.

  • That would be way more tempting. I stoped purchasing iMacs because of the screen resolution and size.

UPDATE: Apple to Announce New Macs This Month and Possible iMac Pro End of Next Year

UPDATE: Appleinsider states that a Larger 32-inch iMac Pro is rumored to hit store shelves in late 2024 https://appleinsider.com/articles/23/10/22/larger-32-inch-imac-pro-rumored-to-hit-store-shelves-in-late-2024?utm_medium=rss

——Orginal Post—— I didn’t see this coming, but I guess a press release is all that would be needed for minor updates to the iMac and perhaps other models.

Is anyone looking forward to a possible M3 iMac?

Question of the week: What was the most clever way you’ve ever used an Apple product to solve a problem?

Hello everyone. With more than 15k subscribers, I'm sure the Apple community has some great experiences to share with others. My question this week is, "What was the most clever way you’ve ever used an Apple product to solve a problem?"

  • Actually, we’ve never been federated with Hexbear. It was blocked before they started federating with other instances.

  • Thank you. A message will be posted soon in the Android community. Good catch to make sure everyone is informed.

  • Pretty much. The hacker sent me a DM with the emoji which contained the malicious code. All I did was open and read it. I’m proud of the team that worked until 2 AM to not only revert the changes, but fix the exploit.
