  • Looks like The Verge fixed their title. These are not AR glasses. They are "smart" aka spyware glasses. No displays, just sensors to provide telemetry on the wearer. Probably some speakers. Overall, useful for a small niche and of limited value otherwise.

  • Oh they're pretty awesome and about 5 mins away. DVDs, music, academic journal access, seed exchange, and several streaming services, free to library patrons.

There are a number of reasons that the far-right and corpos hate libraries. The number of services that the provide to the community (in the US) is a major part of it. Libraries in bigger cities even tend to have social workers on staff to help patrons who are homeless or have other needs. They are one of the few places that anyone is allowed to exist during daylight hours without paying.

  • When people use the common definition of executive disfunction they are euphemism treadmilling laziness.

I was unaware of anyone outside of ASD/ADHD communities regularly using the term.

  • They could cram in more ads than content (Amazon does this sometimes). Ads piss me off though, slightly irrationally (I don't buy that there's any rationality to liking them), so, I can't use prime video anymore. Better to rent DVDs from my library than to deal with that garbage.

  • I think that a good portion of people not wanting more subscription fees (beyond constant enshitification of many, if not must commercial services) comes down to a much bigger societal issue. The vast majority of the population in the West has been getting poorer and poorer every year for the last half-century. And the rate has been accelerating thanks to unfettered neoliberal capitalism, open corruption, and the largest upwards transfer of wealth in human history occurring in the last half-decade. With the majority of people in the West either living paycheck to paycheck or very near it.

People simply can't afford to pay what necessary Internet software is actually worth.

  • Just like a revolution made entirely of fighters is most likely to result in an unjust society (extremely vulnerable to being subverted by those who simply love violence), one without a threat to those who exploit and crave power over others is also likely doomed to failure.

  • Gabapenten has can have serious side effects for some people, dont just go get some and go "o we gonna be good."

FTFY. Everyone's brain chemistry is different. For some, it can be a lifesaver in low doses for anxiety, for some (like me) it can be used as an adjunct to acetaminophen/paracetamol in a combination that is more effective for pain than opioids (had a minor hemorrhage in an adrenal gland - not fun), and for others it can cause extreme depression and other behavior changes.

Noone should take it without the supervision of a medical professional.

  • Exactly. There's been far too much hate against Jewish people throughout history, almost always as scapegoats to cover for the consequences of someone else's greed (kings, dictators, and other authoritarians love to do this). Always stand up for your he-bros and he-broettes when antisemites harass and/or attack them.

There's no excuse for an ethnostate in the 21st century. Nor is there excuse for letting our fellow human beings be attacked for their religious, sexual, or gender identity.

  • Tragic

  • It's not even an OS at this point as much as adware, spyware, and malware (ex. intentionally breaking multiboot) in a trench coat. To top it all off, it is just terrible for performance and reliability (on top of, you know, spying on you and likely making that "recall" screenshots available to governments to help them find dissidents).
