Threadsโ€™ fediverse beta opens to share your posts on Mastodon, too
  • From what I found, a lot of the people who join Threads, wouldn't have even looked into joining the Fediverse in the first place. If anything, Threads is bringing the concept of the Fediverse to more people and some of those people may find that Mastodon and the rest of the Fediverse could be what they prefer, especially if you can still talk with your family and friends on here.

Threads are stuck behind dealing with their investors as we can push the Fediverse with new updates all the time

  • What do you think it would take for people to drop Twitter & Reddit and move to the Fediverse?
  • It's a similar dream I have. People need to jump ship and go towards the Alternatives.

  • GTA 6 Production Reportedly Falling Behind, Rockstar Urges Staff To Return To Office To Avoid Delay
  • Really hope it doesn't get delayed but also wish for both the staff not to have mental health issues or us to get another unpolished game released to us.

  • Meta just showed off Threadsโ€™ fediverse integration for the very first time
  • Yeah, Just don't post something you'll regret, it's called Accountability.

  • What do you think it would take for people to drop Twitter & Reddit and move to the Fediverse?
  • Easier to get fediverse users on there over everyone else from what Iโ€™ve found. People can be stubborn

  • What do you think it would take for people to drop Twitter & Reddit and move to the Fediverse?
  • Currently no, but protocols and things are being worked on including one by the PixelFed creator called Sup!. Maybe one day we will have a good messaging system between the fediverse.

The easiest thing to use what isnโ€™t decentralised but is secure would be Signal for the moment. Especially as they rolled out usernames instead of using your phone number

  • What do you think it would take for people to drop Twitter & Reddit and move to the Fediverse?
  • I know Iโ€™d at least like all my contacts using the fediverse as I hate having to switch apps to see what people are up to.

  • How could users Monitise themselves on the Fediverse?
  • Yeah, I think that's the conclusion we have come to. Donations are what makes the Fediverse great, I guess it just might be nice to make it easier to display / click on in the future.

  • Lemmy.ml is supposedly blocked in China
  • Isn't most websites?

  • What do you think it would take for people to drop Twitter & Reddit and move to the Fediverse?
  • Threads is instagrams version of mastodon / twitter. Even know you can login with instagram it does bring it mainstream

  • How could users Monitise themselves on the Fediverse?
  • You compared it to something that made new jobs with elections.

You may not need to work, but plenty of people do, and not everyone can work a normal 9-5 like everyone else due to disabilies, skills or other needs.

  • How could users Monitise themselves on the Fediverse?
  • So how does the Fediverse make new jobs?

  • How could users Monitise themselves on the Fediverse?
  • That's fair enough, Yeah love Ko-Fi as I run one for an Org that I helped create.

I guess Ko-Fi and other alternatives could be a good way for people to earn money without all the other crap that normal social media has.

  • How could users Monitise themselves on the Fediverse?
  • I agree with you there; it hasn't made social media great but lots of people make a living off it and shouldn't lose out due to places like America banning an app they make money off.

  • How could users Monitise themselves on the Fediverse?
  • It wouldn't be the same sort of thing, obviously. @loops is trying to be a 30 second video platform closer to what Vine was more than TikTok with their 3 minute videos.

  • What do you think it would take for people to drop Twitter & Reddit and move to the Fediverse?
  • Yeah, well, at least it's said to have that many active users but logging in once in a month to check 1 post. So less than 10 seconds on the website / app counts as active.

I'm sure it's slightly inflated. Hopefully indie developers and other smaller public figures come across.

  • What do you think it would take for people to drop Twitter & Reddit and move to the Fediverse?
  • There's plenty of Celebs & public figures using Bluesky, as that's how they started growing their platform originally.

There's also Threads that have more Celebs & public figures including Bill Gates. So I guess Threads might be the way they will publicly get in on the Fediverse. That's when they actually fully flesh their ActivityPub stuff and publicly release it.

  • What do you think it would take for people to drop Twitter & Reddit and move to the Fediverse?
  • Yes, ActivityPub 2.0 is working on that from what I can see. It would be really cool to see how that turns out. Bluesky's not using the same protocols though, so unsure how they are going to fix with all of that.

  • How could users Monitise themselves on the Fediverse?

@asklemmy How could users Monitise themselves on the Fediverse?

As people possibly move across to the Fediverse to find alternatives, we have to question how people are going to make a living on this amazing platform.

Can it be fully run by donations or is there a better way for people to be paid across the Fediverse?
