Where else on the web does everyone hang out?
  • Since Boost for Reddit still works I'm usually over there.

  • Usage of daylight saving time across the world.
  • Conversely, in the heat of summer, I don't want to have to wait until 8:30pm for the sun to go down.

  • What is one fact that someone shared so confidently but turns out to be false?
  • That bumblebees shouldn't be able to fly.

  • What are some commonly known facts that are too bizarre for you to believe to be true?
  • Your comment has made me realise I don't understand how floating works.

  • What's with telling YEARLY salaries?
  • I thought pretty much everyone in Australia was paid fortnightly.

  • Wild Pigs of Europe would make a good band name.

  • Microsoft is killing WordPad in Windows after 28 years
  • Notepad is the default text editor on Windows. I'd be surprised if most people even knew WordPad existed.

  • C-17 low pass over the river in Brisbane.
  • It's the annual Riverfire festival. Fireworks, etc.

  • At first I thought "fossil generation" meant the creation of fossils and I was confused.

  • What phone do you have, and what'll it take for you to upgrade to Pixel 8?
  • I have a P7. There are 2 things I don't like about it: it's too heavy, and the jerky scrolling.

If they released an updated version of the P5 I would jump on that. The P5 was the perfect phone.

  • Is anyone else having trouble giving up Reddit due to content?
  • Here's a little known secret: you can still enjoy Lemmy without giving up reddit. I use both. There are some sports subreddits that I am not prepared to walk away from.

  • I thought this post title was just random words strung together at first.

  • What are your hobbies, and are they real fun to you? If yes, why are they really fun to you?
  • Writing. I used to write short stories but recently I've begun work on a novel.

  • Well, it sure does look like the moon. Nice work.

  • This one-page calendar will change how you view the year
  • I know. The picture of the calendar is entirely self-explanatory yet they wrote a thousand words explaining it.

[bug report] The share menu available at the top of a community page shares the wrong address

If I go to somecommunity@lemmy.world while I am logged in to my lemm.ee account and tap the share icon, it creates a link to somecommunity@lemm.ee when it should be @lemmy.world.

Do we want a daily NRL discussion thread?

I've written a simple lemmy bot that can post on a daily basis. I know there's not much activity on this community, but I thought I could start scheduling Monday Footy Chat, Tuesday Footy Chat, etc.

    Thoughts?

With pythorhead, can I post to a community in a different instance?

If I use pythorhead to log in to one lemmy instance, can I still post to a community on a different instance? I tried using discover_community to search for the community (with @community@instance) but that didn't work.

Is this possible, or can I only post to communities on the instance I am logged in on via the script?

When posting a URL, the post title should be automatically taken from the link

In reddit apps, whenever you create a new post based on a URL, the post title gets suggested from the link title. Can we get this feature in Liftoff?

Are there plans to add mod tools to Liftoff?

Currently I have to use lemmy in my browser to access mod tools. Will these be brought to Liftoff?

[bug?] lemm.ee on desktop is showing random communities in my Subscribed feed

If I go directly to lemm.ee in the browser (Chrome), log in, and change the view to Subscribed, I often see posts from communities I am not subscribed to.

What if soaring rates don't kill inflation? Central banks may be about to blow up the economy
www.abc.net.au What if soaring rates don't kill inflation? Central banks may be about to blow up the economy

We could be wreaking havoc trying to reach the 2 to 3 per cent inflation target, writes business editor Ian Verrender. What if it's a goal that is unattainable?

David Warner’s place in the Australian Test squad must come to an end

While I agree that Warner is no longer up to Test standard, does Australia have anyone to replace him with?

Harris has already failed in his several chances and would probably be a downgrade. Renshaw was very poor in India. I'm not convinced about Bancroft. Who else is there?

[bug] If I upvotes a comment and then leave the thread, when I return to that thread the comment no longer has the upvotes arrow marked in colour

    To reproduce:

    1. Go into a post
    2. Upvote a comment. Observe that the up arrow has changed colour
    3. Exit the post back to the main page
    4. Return to the same post and find the comment. The up arrow will no longer be coloured.

Moreton Bay Chestnut starting to sprout

I love these guys. Grab a few seeds from a local park, take them home and watch them sprout.

The Moreton Bay Chestnut (aka black bean tree, or three bean tree) is native to south east Queensland and grows into a large tree, unless kept in a pot.
