I made a couple of mods and published them on Nexus, and with the donation programme actually made a little money from it, even though I didn't expect anything. If you want to make money modding without completely shitting up the user experience you're better off just shoving them on Nexus and maybe making a ko-fi or something.

I honestly don't know why people who want herbivorous pets choose to get dogs or cats. Rabbits and guinea pigs are lovely creatures. Rodents, birds, and certain lizards all make very good vegetarian companions, so why not choose one of those?

I have a personal love for tiny screaming dinosaurs, but having also kept rabbits and guinea pigs I'd honestly recommend them.

I recycle everything so personally don't have much need for the tether, but it's probably better overall and I imagine most people will just get used to it, honestly.

It is a bit annoying having to make sure my nose doesn't get bonked when I drink, though.

Sorry if this comes across as word salad. I am a bit tired and figured it's better to just generally get some points out in the hopes of helping you understand a female point of view. For clarity, I myself am biologically female.

Women are constantly told to be wary of men since childhood and told that the wrong man can hurt you. When you are hurt as an adult, ie. sexual assault, there is also the possibility of being told it's your fault and that you didn't protect yourself properly, or that you were asking for it. Psychologically, women are more likely to be wary and vigilant in general compared to men, (19% vs 7%). I'm not sure whether this is biological or socially driven.

The majority of serial killers are male and tend to have sexually-inspired motivations. In 2019 men accounted for 98% of arrests for sexual offences, and 84% of violence against the person. 1 in 4 women experienced domestic violence, compared to 1 in 7 men.

Looking at incels and femcels, which I would consider to be negative extreme gendered movements, the approach to the opposite gender is in stark contrast. Incels are openly vocal about their desire to suppress and commit violence against women in some form, whereas femcels are more passive and display little resentment towards men. Incels have also been known to actually commit violent crimes, including mass murder, sometimes specifically targeted at women. Their existence has gradually become more apparent over the past few years to a more general population, leading to the growth and visibility of both movements. This difference in approach towards the opposite gender is in all likelihood caused by male vs. female socialisation.

Men are also biologically stronger than women, making it much harder to fight back in the event anything should occur. When I first became accutely aware of man-strength, it was actually a bit scary to realise how big the difference is between what I am capable of and what you are capable of. If a man were to attack me, I don't doubt that I wouldn't be able to adequately fight back. Strength provides a surprising amount of reassurance from my perspective, and my lack of it makes me a little more wary around those who could potentially hurt me.

Apparently, according to the "list of fatal bear attacks in North America” table, there have been over 180 fatal bear attacks in North America since 1784. Which is to say I am very much more likely to be assaulted and killed by a man than I am a bear.

Risk assessment coupled with a higher likelihood of a wary personality results in women choosing the bear over the man.

You may disagree with this, but ultimately you'd have to argue that women should be less educated to be wary of strange men if you wanted to counter such an approach, which is a rather controversial stance to take. In all curiosity, would you tell your daughter to trust a strange man?

Honestly I think the current situation probably needs more unpacking before moving onto other points. It's understandable that many men are indignant that women are saying they'd rather run into a bear, but it brings to the forefront that - for women - random strange men are considered less safe to be around than a large wild animal.

The reasoning can generally be boiled down to the possibility of premeditated violence. The majority of men don't pose a threat, but those that do pose so much of a threat that women are given pause about men as a whole.

The original hypothetical doesn't discuss anything beyond a "would you prefer" scenario, and women responding to it are simply stating they'd prefer to encounter a bear in the woods rather than a strange man.

Naturally both genders are capable of duplicity and cruelty, but it's just not part of the original discussion, and so people aren't discussing it.

I hate to say this, but men are just scarier than wild animals.

With wild animals they will either flee or attack. Men are capable of deception and cruelty for the sake of pleasure, and sadists can get disgustingly creative. Even if there is a chance the man is safe to be around, the potential danger he poses just overall outweighs that of the bear, hence why a woman would choose the bear.
