Landlords are the reason UBI cannot work on its own
I keep telling libs that at the very least, they need to have a heavy land value tax if they want UBI to work. Because then, if they decide to raise the rent, they'll admit their land is more valuable and have to pay more in taxes. What are they going to do? Pass the tax onto their tenants? Raising rent is how they got high taxes. And if they try to ship their money overseas, well they can't since the land is the tax base.

Enshittification does have a historic term: rent-seeking behavior. It's all about taking more money without creating wealth. Even Adam Smith vehemently opposed this and called it anti free-market, since he wanted the market to also be free from lords.
Now, so much of the US economy is built around rent-seeking and now we're all scratching our heads why China is kicking our asses, and our governments are so corrupt.
