I am sick of socks having only two or three wears before they get a hole. They are not too cheap, 10-15 a pair. My nails are good, I do do walking, so maybe socks are made for a more sedentary lifestyle. I can't wear tradie socks as they are too thick to fit in my shoes and I have wide feet. I have tried many brands and stores.
I bought some snoopy socks from typo/cotton on today, let's see how they hold up.

Hmm, I have spent obnoxious amounts on socks and really haven't found ones that are all that... I think an old pair of snowboarding socks were my favourite for the functional aspect, but I hate the pilling if you wear them to bed.
Surprisingly, my boring Kmart socks have lasted a long time. I have quite a few pairs which might explain why it takes ages for a hole to appear.
For everyday I like the bonds with the cushioned soles. They come in different heights (low, crew etc). Seem to be on sale at least once a month. The colesworth underworks brand is similar. Not as thick like tradie socks, but thick enough that they don’t get holes easily. For thin dress socks, I find cotton more durable than bamboo.
I have switched mostly to men's socks - my feet are right at the top of the standard size range for women, which means they are more stretched and wear holes quicker. The larger sizes of women's socks are often a bit too big and less available, but the standard size in men's business socks tends to work well.
Possum or alpaca socks are my favourite. Super warm and last for years. They're thick though so might not work for you. I think I bought my last lot from Creswick Woollen Mill.
Black Kmart bamboo fibre crew socks. I have about 6 pairs (they're cheap) and have them on high rotation. They've done about a year now and are still pretty much as good as new. Excellent support, and they stay up really well too. I too have wide feet, so these have been a lifesaver. No holes as yet. They do have fierce elastic at the tops, so if you have circulation issues these might not be the best choice. I wash them in the regular laundry and air dry if possible and finish them off in the tumble dryer if not.
