- Canada doesn’t have states
- I have never heard anyone call BC the “Pacific Province” - that really sounds like someone from out east who had never thought of the west coast but knew Oregon was the Beaver State was put on the spot and made up something that sounded plausible.
31 1 ReplyBCer here, never heard that.
"Supernatural BC", on the other hand.
4 0 ReplyCame here to begrudgingly add that. A very cool guide. But as a near 50 year BC resident I’ve never heard that.
15 0 Reply“Beautiful BC”, Lotus Land, …?
Hah… they got it from the Wikipedia page, which looks like someone just made stuff up and linked it. Wikipedia cites a CashNetUSA 2019 blog article that’s already been taken down.

Also incorrectly coded Saskatchewan "Land of the Living Skies" as "Climate/Weather"
Anyone who's lived there knows it's a reference to the density of flying insects.
9 0 ReplyBC calls (called) itself "the Best Place on Earth", lol. Now put that on the chart to make all 62 other Provinces, Territories and States upset.

1 0 ReplyLmao at Wyoming being the equality state.
3 0 ReplyThey legalized women's suffrage and allowed women to hole public office in 1869, much sooner than any other state or the 19th amendment
2 0 ReplyThat's cool, but ask them how they treat women and brown/black people. I've heard some truly wild shit in Wyoming.

I'd always heard "Onterrible" for Ontario, and I've definitely never heard anyone call it "the Heartland Province".
14 0 ReplyUm, the "Sunshine State"!
4 0 ReplyAm I going insane or did they flood Maryland on this map? I seriously can't see it, just a suspiciously Maryland-shaped bay where Maryland should be
8 0 ReplyMaryland has really fallen off the map these days

7 0 Replyoof yeah putting the maple leaf on quebec WITH the french flag overlay....yeah...even as a guy living in Ontario I thought "that's a bit in poor taste"

Fun fact: calling Oklahoma citizens “Sooners” is actually a historical insult. They won’t take it that way in modern times, but it’s a reference to the fact that during the land rush, they behaved illegally and left to go stake land “too soon”.
3 0 ReplyWyoming the equality state?
3 0 ReplyThey legalized women's suffrage long before any other state.

2 0 ReplyBeing from Alabama, TIL it's called the yellowhammer state. Never heard anyone call it that before, but Wikipedia's got their back I guess.
