It's because it looks to be a genuinely good game based on a classic novel called Journey to the West, and it getting people around the world interested in Chinese culture. This is directly challenging the US cultural hegemony, and hence westoids are losing it.
Sun Wukong is way stronger than Son Goku though, at least for all of Dragon Ball and pre SSJ DBZ.
Honestly Sun Wukong could probably hold his own against SS1 Goku, the guy could SOMERSAULT 30000 miles in one bound. I'm sure that's like.... pretty strong, probably able to Zwee Fight. Not that he'd even need to, since he can also turn invisible and Goku would be like "nani??"
I made this an age ago, idk why even, but afaik Monkey King is possibly the most immortal character in fiction. He just keeps stumbling tits-forward in to newer, more durable ways to be immortal until he reaches the point that literally the only entity left that can stop him is the Buddha. idk if Goku could beat Super Man or my dad but he could definitely not beat the Buddha.
Like Goku is a cool dude and probably the best fighter ever, except that Monkey King punched so good he attained Buddhahood as the Victorious Fighting Buddha and it's not fair to even hold Goku to that.
yeah there' something about anti-wokers initially trying to pump it up because of reports about the devs behaviour/internal culture or something, but that's now subsiding as they're realising that they've pumped up a nice looking game about chinese folklore and therefore have promoted understanding of the designated enemy
Chuds will signal boost anything they perceive as anti-woke, while woke people will do their homework. We should start upholding certain stuff as certified anti-woke to bait chuds into stanning shit we like.
setting up a honeypot bideo gaem news website that accuses the devs of Celeste of having a frat-bro culture and explicit anti-DEI policies in their company constitution
Supposedly people who got review keys were sent an email forbidding talking about a handful of topics during reviews, mostly reasonable political stuff but also "feminist propaganda" https://archive.ph/A1s65
At first I was kind of skeptical whether it was real but now I'd lean towards "yes"
Apparently one of the reviews gave it a fairly low score citing “lack of diversity” (apparently because of a lack of female characters) and it sparked a controversy on the internet where the chuds went “this is DEI wokeness gone to the extreme trying to apply their standards to other cultures!” and some of the libs defended the decision with “this is proof that CCP does not respect women’s rights and the devs are misogynists!”
It’s kind of like that TERF Harry Potter game that came out a while ago where the controversy only brought more attention to the game and the sales actually went up because everyone was talking about it.
