Google's got a new update coming for the Pixel 4a that could have a negative impact on battery life. Luckily, Google's offering some generous compensation options.
Not sure what to do. I gave it my IMEI but it said that wasn't recognized as belonging to a Pixel 4a....except my phone clearly is, isn't running custom firmware, and still in my purchase history.
Only some Pixel 4a phones are affected, apparently.
You know... the stuff they're doing to some Pixel 4as - reducing charging speed, limiting charge level, etc - those are the same things EV manufacturers do when they've got known faulty batteries catching fire and are trying to work around the issue with software.
Doing it to certain devices which you can look up by IMEI, that sounds a lot like something you'd do if you had a certain batch of batteries catching fire and knew which devices had those batteries.
More than a year after end of life, Google suddenly decides "stability of battery performance" is such a big issue that they're going to pay compensation to people? That isn't suspicious at all.
Dang! Mine does not qualify. I would not mind getting credit towards a new phone.
But if it affects the os or other systems user will lose it. So yeah. If possible its a No. I know there are still some people uses it.
The last good Pixel and now they pay people to use it? Even better.
