Mississippi bill would pay bounty hunters to catch undocumented immigrants
A Mississippi district attorney proposed new legislation Wednesday to pay bounty hunters a reward for helping to deport immigrants in the country illegally.
Back in the day this was called slave patrol.
The US is unusual in having bounty hunters, but they've been around continuously for a long time. I'm sure that slaves were tracked down by bounty hunters, but they were around after that as well -- it's not some sort of institution specific to slavery.
The Philippines -- which was a US territory for a while -- also has bounty hunters.
What a bizarre comment.
Well in Mississippi at least, there never was a whole lot of difference between the old slave patrol and the modern bounty hunters, and now whatever the heck this is.
They literally want them hunted for sport. God, we're so fucked.
