New poll finds strong majority opposes gender-affirming care bans for trans minors
  • Gosh, it's almost as though most people aren't hateful bigots. Hateful bigots should take note, but they won't. In fact, if they do it'll only be to point out how they're being persecuted. I dislike hateful bigots.

  • And it just seemed like any other show.
  • I got into a heated argument (preschool) about whether the car jumped or flew. My dumbass neighbors (my age and younger) contended that it flew. Their mother backed them up. I bet they turned out really fucked up with a parent who was willing to lie to them and distort reality rather than hit them with a dose of reality. I was super mad about it. And now look at me: I’m an atheist who believes in Leftwing politics, so I’d say that on the spectrum from reality to fucked, I turned out pretty ok. Hate to think how they must see the world today.

  • These blips in my feed continue to entertain in a disinterested sort of way. I fear I’m gradually growing to enjoy them a bit more per thread. Perhaps I should pull back. Or maybe I’ll just rubberneck.

  • If you don't work IT, retail, or food service what do you do for work?
  • That’s why I went backwards from SE back to IT. I enjoy working with people directly and helping them. It’s also a hell of a lot easier in terms of hours and crunches (we have no crunches).

Basically, I had to decide whether I wanted the money and “glamour” of working on a well-known hot project or to be generally happy with my life. I’m a lot happier now.

  • This sign spotted in a South American bank lobby
  • I liked it better when I thought they were welcome the sub/dom community, but I’m also for collective action and worker’s rights. Both are good. Just one felt a bit more fun.

    Organize, people. It works.

  • The US healthcare system is broken...
  • I had a similar experience when paying out of pocket when a former employer offered really shitty healthcare. Turned an outrageous price into something minuscule just by them entering in some info on my behalf.

  • Apple punishes women for same behaviors that get men promoted, lawsuit says
  • What a dumbass take. Women are paid less than men. It's unfair and wrong. Compensation should be blind.

My considering that women might not fight as hard overall for higher starting pay is not apologetics. It's something I'd never considered and someone else fleshed it out in a reasonable fashion that social norms might make this more likely due to (accurately) perceived unwillingness to tolerate pushback.

You only see normalization because you want to pit us against each other. I can make an observation without advocating for more of the same. It sucks that you'd try to level that at me.

Apple quietly improves Mac virtualization in macOS 15 Sequoia

Subhead: It only works for macOS 15 guests on macOS 15 hosts, but it’s a big improvement.

    > But up until now, you haven’t been able to sign into iCloud using macOS on a VM. This made the feature less useful for developers or users hoping to test iCloud features in macOS, or whose apps rely on some kind of syncing with iCloud, or people who just wanted easy access to their iCloud data from within a VM. > > This limitation is going away in macOS 15 Sequoia, according to developer documentation that Apple released yesterday. As long as your host operating system is macOS 15 or newer and your guest operating system is macOS 15 or newer, VMs will now be able to sign into and use iCloud and other Apple ID-related services just as they would when running directly on the hardware.

Well, this is good news that makes me happy. I know a number of devs will be appreciative of this, even in its limited present-form. Presumably, we just need the march of time for older OSes to be supported (starting now with 15 and going forward, I mean – as in, they might not backport, but I don't expect them to take 15 away when they ship 16).
