If they make waving Palestinian flags in Jewish neighbourhoods a crime (and there is a case for it being a public order offence), they should also make waving Israeli flags in neighbourhoods with large Arab or Muslim populations an equivalent crime.
As with everything it comes down to intent and context.
If you accidently throw bacon on to your neighbour's garden, it's probably a mistake.
If you purposefully throw bacon on to your neighbour's garden, it's probably littering.
If you specifically throw bacon on their garden because they are jewish/muslim/vegetarian, etc, it's probably a public order offence.
The people that run the friends of palestine stand in the centre of town handing out leaflets on a Saturday afternoon and encouraging boycotting products from illegal settlements aren't doing anything wrong.
But someone who purposefully goes to a Jewish part of a town to wave a flag for the sole purpose of antagonising those who live there, it's probably a public order offence.
In Australia, the people handing out leaflets calling for boycotts would have been committing a federal crime (at least a few years ago), as advocating boycotts of allied countries was outlawed under the expansion of sedition laws after 9/11. I’m guessing Cruella is taking notes.
How often does that realistically happen, there aren't cars full of Jews doing laps of Whitechapel with Isreali flags when this kicks off, it's always the other way around.
A “significant number” of British-Israeli dual nationals have been caught up in the conflict in Israel and Gaza, the foreign secretary, James Cleverly, said earlier.
Sunak confirmed his support for Israel, saying he stood in solidarity with the state and its people “in the face of these barbaric acts of terrorism”.
Discussing his visit to a synagogue in north London on Monday night, Sunak said he had been “unequivocal with them that we will make sure that they feel safe at this time”.
The number of Britons caught up in the violence in Israel and Gaza has yet to be confirmed, with ministers wary that official estimates of casualties and those injured are still being compiled.
He continued: “I want to reassure them we’re doing everything we can, working very closely with the Israeli authorities to establish what is happening on the ground, provide support to people where it’s needed.
Fighting in the region is continuing, with the Israeli air force announcing on social media that it was planning to launch “an extensive attack against terror targets of the terrorist organisation Hamas in the Gaza Strip”.

It's complicated, the Palestinian flag isn't a terrorist symbol, the Hamas flag is. But hate crimes are based on intention and perception, so driving around a Jewish area waving it right after an attack launched from Gaza is clearly intended to cause distress. Same as sitting outside a Ukrainians house with a Russian flag at the moment.
