I don’t do background noise. I exist in a state of silence most of the time.
Not because I need it that way, but because I literally don’t notice when something is on so why waste the electricity. If I do notice, I’m definitely not doing whatever I’m supposed to be doing..
But this, very importantly, only applies when I get to choose the noise. If someone is forcing noise on me (like my former manager who used to sing at her fucking desk) its incredibly distracting. Always.

  I guess I lump that in with sounds I ignore. I’ve had it for a loooong time, and it doesn’t bother me until I think about it (so you know, thanks.. 😑😜)
- Yep. Any external noise can be a big distractor.
  Now make that noise repetitive, or something like the sound of someone eating, and it can send you though the roof.

Spending 20 minutes finding the song with the right vibe then switching songs 2 minutes in...

I end up not finishing the task in both scenarios

I found in college the old sitcoms playing with nick at night were the perfect background noise while not being to interesting to pull my attention from the books.

My wife is the first one, I'm the second. We have to be completely separate to get anything done.

  I've tried theta wave and she's not a fan, but it works well enough if I'm in another room.

- Yep. If I choose the noise I can block it out. But unsolicited noise somehow becomes all my brain can focus on.

- I either have Spotify going and grooving, or I'm so focused on work and forget to turn it on.

I put Spotify on the block out whatever it is that slightly squeaks in the back every time drive over a bump
- Add some black tape for the warning light and we can be best friends.

You ain't a Doc and I don't give a gorram how much Edu you'd like to think that you can label yourself with on unrelated anything if anything. You think you can brag about it with such junky technicality that it won't be called but by someone actually so. But all that because you're so obviously a cheesy newbie narcissistic wannabe comedian.
This is supposed to be a group of relations and support. Not mockery and condescension. We'll find out how long my post lasts to that affair though. Some places can't handle it and if this place is like that, I don't want to be here anyway.
