Anyone who hasn't seen taskmaster is in for a treat. It perfectly encapsulates how stupid we, as people, are and how ingenious we are, and mixed with a bit of "let's just fuck with people". The bit about Josh Widdicombe counting baked beans in a can brightens my day every time it pops into my mind.
Anyone looking for something similar to Taskmaster I'd recommend Game Changers. It has the same "let's fuck with people" vibe.
Your comment, for some reason, very much reminds me of this:
I think Game Changers is the only real US answer to UK panel shows. I want more of them. I think some other exists; they do not show up a ton in any of my feeds or circles.
It's a great show, and there is a great amount of content. 19 seasons from UK taskmaster, and also some other Versions (I think us, nz, but they aren't as good in my opinion)
US doesn't exist. Don't tell anyone the US version exists. They never cast Lisa Lampanelli as a contestant.
Disagree about NZ, though. I love both the versions in New Zealand and Australia. Hard to beat a lot of the original but I'm following several of the comedians now

I think Greg and Alex went on a few radio programmes talking about how the adverts and stuff pushed their format more differently than they wanted. Like the prize task and stuff were rushed. Alex said if they do it again, they'd like to be approached by US networks rather than go hunting for it themselves.
Also, they'd also make it with Greg and Alex rather than having a US host and Alex.
I think most fans said that it was obvious that in the UK format that Greg is the boss (yes we all know Alex is). However in the US format it was evident that Alex was the boss.
Personally, I would love to see a Conan O'Brien and Jordan Schlansky(sp?) or Andy Richter combination. I can see Conan just chewing up the scenery. Jordan being overly pedantic and Conan chastising him and making him break.
Yeah, I watched nz and didn't mean to say that it is bad, just not as good.
I've adored it. I found out about it from sibling who found out about it when they started uploading full episodes to YouTube.
It's just really funny silly things with some real heartwarming shit as well. I also have enjoyed the Australia and New Zealand ones as well. I tried to watch some of the non English speaking ones, but subtitles do not do it justice for my brain, alas.
Also! Close to my heart! Rosie and seeing someone with cerebral palsy! Amazing!!
I agree with the original Taskmaster, it's brilliant. But I never found a connection to the Australien or New Zealand version. Greg Davis and Alex Horne are missing in these and they are the ones that make every contestant so funny.
A close second for me, as a great moderator team, would be Rose and Mike.
there is not another equivalent anywhere on the planet to Greg, try as they might to find one. the advantage the UK had was not only being first, but also Greg having been a staple of comedy already really let them just do whatever the hell they wanted.
the AU version is good but the thing that we fast forward through is the intros, it feels like the network it's on just didn't trust them enough to let it just be completely off the rails (eg, the spirit of the show) and it suffers as a result.
Now they need to cone up with a suitably weird US pronunciation for Taskmaster, like making an entire breakfast, lunch and dinner out of the last syllable in “Monty Python”.
While I prefer the UK version, the Australian show has my favorite Taskmaster moment ever: Concetta Caristo vs the vertical bathroom scale:
Its available for free on YouTube also (at least in the US)
This has been a regular in house for many years, and will be to come
I'd suck Greg Davies cock. It's important you all know
Jason is the only reason I'm watching season 19. Its such a good concept for a show that could be so chaotic. And then its just a bunch of the most boring tame Brits ever.
You serious? I love Stevie and Faithia (sp) too. They're awesome and make Jason crack up too. I think the whole cast is awesome this series although obviously Jason is a gem to watch.
