80 7 Reply20 0 ReplyLight mode during the day, dark mode at night
31 13 ReplyI’m reading this at night though. Think of all the poor souls that will get flashbanged in the next few hours.
44 0 ReplyNot that it matters but it’s a little insane that 8 people thought to downvote you because of how you choose your theme settings.
Like I’m dark mode on everything at all times, but I won’t downvote you for being different. Some folk be wack.
10 2 ReplyOof ouch my eyeballs
3 0 ReplyLol
We use the same app AND settings

So that's how it happens. I thought I was getting old when I had to look up 'based' on urban dictionary.
55 0 ReplyThank god for that website, I can't imagine being an aging millennial in 1980 with all the kids talking about "radical" this and "cowabunga" that and not have anything to look up.
50 1 ReplyTwas a tubular time.
13 0 Reply"Cowabunga" shouldn't have been a mystery to them, at least, because it originates from Howdy Doody in 1949.

I'm curious, how recently did you have to look it up? For me it feels ancient compared to the likes of "rizz" but that's probably due to the circles I've been in.
6 0 ReplyBased has been around for 10+ years. So weird hearing people say it again
4 0 ReplyWtf is rizz?
2 0 ReplyOh no i didn't know what rizz meant. I had to look it up mid this year. Gg life, im now going downhill for sure :(

Is it really pronounced "dub"? I've never heard it spoken.
30 0 ReplyI internally say massive win but I do hear youtubers call it massive double u
20 0 ReplyIronic that pronouncing a single letter is more cumbersome than the full word.
30 0 Reply
I always hear it as double u
8 0 ReplyYeah, unless it was a really important win, then you might say it out entirely to emphasize your utter dominance over them.
7 0 ReplyNot exclusively, but sometimes.
3 0 ReplyDuh-b
3 0 ReplyHonestly don't think it's universal, but most of the time, yeah.

Bright mode? [Hiss.]
21 3 ReplySo this is why Golden State Warriors are called "Dubs"! Today I learned.
The nickname comes from people shortening Warriors to the letter W. The shorter form of the letter W is pronounced "Dub." It also helps that W represents the word "win" in the world of sports, so when their fans refer to them as the Dubs, they are also referring to the team as winners.
10 0 ReplyI was there when it was written
10 0 Replyis double v
9 0 ReplyStill a dub
4 0 ReplyLatin didn't have the letter U, so they wrote V when they said U

Hey! I’ve been invited to sports before. Some people think that me being large, tough, and angry would make me good at roller derby, unfortunately I’m also uncoordinated even when sober
8 0 Reply7 0 ReplyIf this some light mode joke I'm too dark mode to be able to read?
6 0 Replynoun-pilled.
6 1 ReplyWas this when all the Johns in the world assembled into a field to fight?

1 0 ReplyW L comes from the W community on Twitch who watch streamers like Kai Cenat. They spam it into the chat.
1 10 Reply2021 - present
People were definitely saying this long before 2021. I don't think it started on Twitch.
9 1 ReplyKnowyourmeme says it's from a 2003 music video

Hey guys, look, a nerd!
1 0 ReplyEven the site you linked to tells you it's the other way around. The W Community got it's name from "Win" commonly being shortened to W, not vice versa.
