Why is fountain soda better than canned or bottled?
Why is fountain soda better than canned or bottled?
You might say it's the ice, but even when you put bottled or canned soda in a cup with ice it's not the same.
Need that hasn't been properly cleaned in a decade taste.

10 0 ReplyDon't take them to be fact across the board. When I worked in food service (chipotle), the nozzles got cleaned every night.

Fountain soda typically uses a higher ratio of syrup to water. This is in anticipation of some ice melt.
23 0 ReplyIt's mixed at the tap. At a soda fountain thw water, CO2, and syrup are stored separately and mixed at the tap. Flavor difference is likely the result of a different ratio.
18 1 ReplyI remember hearing that the syrup formula for fountain coke is different from the formula they use in the bottled and canned stuff.

The seltzer water and soda syrup are mixed when it's pouring into your cup. If the machine is properly maintained, and the syrup hasn't "expired", it should be the freshest soda can get.

13 1 ReplyIts not, canned is best, followed by bottled. Fountain is the bottom drink of last resort.
14 8 ReplyFor me it goes:
Glass bottle > Can > plastic bottle > post-mix (fountain)
13 1 ReplyI do like a glass bottle soda. Can't believe I forgot about those.
3 0 ReplyAgreed, this is my preference in terms of taste for sure. Value for money though... well that's a different calculation.
2 0 ReplyFor me, glass bottle > plastic bottle > fountain > can.
I don't like canned sodas. They taste wrong, and I hate the way they feel against my mouth.

That lovely plastic lining taste of canned, with the taste of aluminum as well. Honestly glass bottle hits different, but i don't drink soda anymore
5 0 ReplyPlastic bottled is garbage. I like an aluminum can ok. Glass bottled is pretty good. But you're mistaken about fountain.

Disagree, glass bottled is best, followed by canned, then plastic bottled.
Fountain soda ratios are always way off.
5 0 ReplyI find bottled/canned soda has way too much carbonation. fountain drinks are usually better for that alone.
