Amazon has been fined in Poland for misleading consumers about the conclusion of sales contracts on its online marketplace.
Uff, 8 million dollars. Wow, that will surely teach Amazon to be better next time. Ah, sorry, they already made as much in profit as I was typing this. No need to change then, keep being true to yourself, Amazon!
Still I am surprised that they got a fine at all, considering that Amazon is rarely used in Poland in general.
They already appealed so no guarantees they will actually get fined.
Maybe it being used rarely actually made this fine possible?
I could see how with larger market share a company like Amazon would assert more influence on politicians and institutions to not persecute such behavior.
Like for example Ireland trying their hardest not to collect taxes from the likes of apple.
Just the cost of doing business. Probably totally worth it in the long run.
All of these fines should be exponential.
First time 8 million, second time 80, third 800 etc. Otherwise it's just CODB.
