[Album] Punk/Hardcore album with a white cover featuring a crucified grasshopper and a possible reference to the Pope (pre-2004)

Hi everyone,

Iโ€™m trying to remember the name of a punk or hardcore album I listened to around 2004, though the album itself is likely older (possibly from the 80s or 90s). The cover was predominantly white and featured a crucified grasshopper (or some kind of insect) along with what seemed to be a reference to the Pope or religion.

The music was definitely punk or hardcore, but I canโ€™t recall if the band was famous or more underground. It might have been Brazilian or international, as Iโ€™ve listened to both.

Does this ring any bells? Any leads would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Pat's Soundhouse - Khaen Solo Vol. 1 [ALBUM]

The khaen (/หˆkษ›n/; spelled "Khaen", "Kaen", "Kehn"[1] or "Ken" in English;[2] Lao: เปเบ„เบ™, pronounced [kสฐษ›ฬหn]; Thai: เนเธ„เธ™, RTGS: khaen, pronounced [kสฐษ›ฬ„หn]; Northeastern Thai: เนเธ„เธ™, pronounced [kสฐษ›แท‡หn]; Khmer: แž‚แŸ‚แž“ โ€“ Ken; Vietnamese: khรจn or kheng) is a Lao mouth organ whose pipes, which are usually made of bamboo, are connected with a small, hollowed-out hardwood reservoir into which air is blown. The khene is the national instrument of Laos.[3]

The khene uses a free reed made of brass and/or silver. It is related to Western free-reed instruments such as the harmonium, concertina, accordion, harmonica, and bandoneon, which were developed beginning in the 18th century from the Chinese sheng, a related instrument, a specimen of which had been carried to St. Petersburg, Russia.[citation needed]

Album

I have found some very cool woodpecker magnet gatcha toys at a place in Tokyo. Gatcha are vending machines you pay a few dollars to get a random item from a set, and they change constantly.

I kept going till I had all four woodpeckers (took 5 tries), there are:

Now I just need to find the same ones in real life ๐Ÿ˜…

I made bubble hash, album in comment.

Album

The album has some thoughts with the pictures, but bottom line, it was hard work, wasnโ€™t as difficult as I was imagining from the guides, but it is definitely something that has to be done right, cold, and fast.

I opened the vent for the bathroom all the way the day before and kept the door closed so the AC could help chill it.

I think next time Iโ€™ll try a drywall mixing paddle instead of a paint mixer, but with plan on just using this pvc pipe again, it worked pretty good.

I donโ€™t think I had enough water the first few washes, the filters do slowly clog up if you donโ€™t rinse them fast enough. So I had a few spills from the filters not allowing water through and it spilling out.

All in all, fun and I canโ€™t wait to weigh it to see what I got! But yeah definitely need to try and make it less physical next time.

Android @lemmy.world

I tracked my SOT on my Pixel 8 for 2 months across stock and GrapheneOS

Charts

Conclusion

  • On my Pixel 8, stock seems to offer better battery life compared to GrapheneOS, with a mean SOT of 06:51 on stock, versus a mean SOT of 06:03 on GOS.
  • I can't be sure where the difference in battery life is coming from, but it may be due to stock's adaptive battery function that is not available on GOS.
  • However, the slight increase in battery life on stock is not worth the amazing privacy and security benefits that GOS provides over stock, so I will be sticking to GOS.

Context

  • I wrote a similar post to this one based on the tracking and analysis I did while I tested out stock Android before switching to GrapheneOS (Lemmy), and I wanted to complete my battery tr

Android @lemmy.world

I tracked SOT on my Pixel 8 for a month

Conclusion

  • For my use cases, the Pixel 8 has phenomenal battery life, comfortably lasting me over 2 days and sometimes even 3 days, with an average SOT of 05:51 from the 18 charging cycles I've tracked from 100% to 20%.
  • I'm extremely happy with the Pixel 8's battery life, and I look forward to getting even better battery life once I switch to GrapheneOS, as there should be even less battery consumption due to system apps such as Play Services not being part of the OS.

Context

  • I got my Pixel 8 from the Google Japan store (Obsidian, 256GB) on 2024-02-21, upgrading from a Samsung Galaxy S22 (Exynos), which I had pre-ordered. I was overall happy with the S22 except for one major complaint: the battery life. The Exynos chipset was so inefficient and had such terrible idle drain that after my battery woes didn't get solved even after getting my first unit replaced by Samsung, I became unhealthily obsessed with my phone's battery life.
  • My obsession led me to write multi
