What are the most capitalist things you've heard about?
  • Whoa, I thought that just Australia was following American economics. The descent into privatisation on everything. I guess there are greedy and ignorant people everywhere. For some reason knowing Sweden is also going down the neoliberal toilet it makes me feel better and I dont know why. I guess its a feeling of inevitability.

Reminds me of John Stewart stating that to combat vested interest takes energy and effort every single day.

There are so many groups taking advantage of our overworked lives combined with the over abundance of useless information that distracts us from the real issues that impacts us. Its very difficult to know how and where to direct our energy. Of course thats my view as a social/environmental person. However, if you love the conservative/neoliberal view of the world. Then congratulations, things must seem pretty great right now.

  • Australian security forces ban the ise of Whatsapp and Signal

Interesting, I wonder if its due to making sure the messages are traceable and staff are accountable. As stated by the authorities

Or is there something they know that we dont? Lemmy has made me paranoid about the security of messaging apps..

(I have no idea how to read code so I wouldn’t have a clue)

  • Agree on everything, except

They do work together, just not publicly.

Looks bad when all the banks, supermarkets, insurance companies, oil and gas cartels set their own rules in mateship. So its purposely hidden, oh yes we are definitely in competition when its a duolopy/oligarchy *wink wink

  • Up! Up! Coles' annual profits are up to $1.1 billion.
  • Love seeing all the extra security features in Coles and Woolies. It makes me almost forget who the actual thieves are..

In the same breath they tell us their profits arent unusual but also really good for shareholders

  • Let's chat about these SEVEN nuclear power plants the LNP want to build ...
  • You always know when the coalition is in opposition- that’s when you hear about their nuclear plans. In power, it’s crickets.

It’s all noise, distracting us from other more important things which need our attention now

  • Advice on finding a partner?
  • Nah, I didnt explain myself well. You arent going just to chat to attractive people. I just see plenty of organic interactions whenever I go to a concert. You def have to enjoy the music and have a good time. Any social situation can be creepy or non creepy, the individual needs social awareness to understand the difference. I dont talk to people while the music is playing but inbetween songs or sets you can simply comment that was awesome. I agree with you about festivals, downtime is good to chat and chill

  • Advice on finding a partner?
  • Bro, go to as many concerts and gigs as you can. Take a single mate, its crazy watching how many random interactions take place.

Dont be scared to move around and chat to people. No one cares if you are trying to find a new viewing spot and its a great convo starter. I wish I went to more when I was younger.

    But number 1 rule, earplugs

  • Keeping your data from Apple is harder than expected - Aalto University Finland
  • I appreciate this post from OP and didn’t see the last two apple privacy posts. It’s fine to highlight but its coming off a little condescending that this person tried to share content but you’ve already read a post… who cares

  • Israel-Hamas War: Piers Morgan vs Bassem Youssef On Palestine's Treatment | An unexpected interview - dark humor and eye opening

Very unexpected interview. Usually I watch these because I like to hear a counter argument to my views. But this interview is fascinating! Such a heartfelt conversation, wrapped up in pain and dark humor

What is your recommended rolled up mattress to buy (Australia)

    Hello,

Looked up so many mattress reviews. To the point where I have no idea what to buy.

Its going to be a double bed due to size restrictions of the room. Will sleep on it 1-2 nights per week. Want a good bed that will last for 10+yrs and won't sag.

Looking at spending less than $1000. Any ideas or personal experiences? Please help!

    The lack of ads!

Was just thinking how nice it is to be on social media and not be bombarded with ads!

Its amazing how this is the first site in years that I dont need to install blockers or scroll through bs or be so cynical with what I read.

Fellow Australians, rejoice in this little space we have from corporate bombardment
