Real talk: Would literally cutting a single atom in half unleash the force of an atomic bomb? Would it even be a noticeable reaction to the unassisted human eye?

I've seen some science show stuff at particle accelerators where a dude points to some device giving off sparks and is like "these sparks are actually anti-matter explosions." So I wonder if a single atom of regular matter would even be a spark.

Is it weird that I had never heard the name Labubu, but instantly recognized the image in the wiki page?

I am seeing this guy rn, but it's at most once a week because the dude has an insane schedule. But he also has hella friends and most of that schedule is hanging out with various groups.

Then again, he's not quite middle age yet. Maybe it'll all fall apart when he turns 30. 🤔

I haven't been able to want to use my VR headset since I saw a news article saying they were cracking down on piracy. Everything I legitimatly own on Steam that has a Meta standalone version, I pirated the meta version. The only non-pirated thing on the headset I have is VRchat. And that's because it's free anyway.

Bricking my headset because of this would be harming me.

I absolutely suck at pretending to work. If I have no work left to do at work, I don't know how to look busy so I just go hide in the freezer or bathroom for a while and hope something got fucked up enough to need cleaning up when I come out.

This wouldn't be a problem if I was actually working in the kitchen. But as the janitor, I can usually complete everything that has to be done twice a day 2 hours before my shift is over. The only real variables are emptying trash and cleaning the bathroom if someone got wild in there.

Gemini itself sucks for pretty much everything. The non-AI assistant that preceeded it did a much better job, IMO. Though, it didn't have item recognition capabilities at all out side of music. It feels like it's just a language bot being forced to do things it wasn't designed for, so you ask it what a thing is and it just spits out text that seems normal but is also completely wrong.

The general "thing" recognition is better on my Quest 3's room scanning function. But it's not meant for telling you what things are, just for making furniture in real space appear in virtual space too 🤷‍♂️

These are easier for me than normal Magic Eye pictures, because I can just use the "floating hotdog"* method of putting it right up to my face, letting my eyes get used to being focused there and then slowly moving away from it until it pops out of the page/screen.

*(to do the "floating hotdog" trick, put your index fingers end to end then put them right up in your eye line. Now slightly move your fingers apart until the floating hotdog appears)

I am smarter than my dad in a lot of things. But not programming. Or math.

At the same time, though, a huge portion of what I learned in school was wrong. I got As for being able to remember information that has since been changed, debunked, or otherwise made inaccurate due to new discoveries. So kids today probably are smarter than me, but will likely end up in the same boat at my age when everything they were taught is discovered to be wrong.

The only real constant is math. Math never changes.

The safety issue thing is bullshit. First of all, there isn't any kind of sounds that would indicate any kind of danger other than the fire alarm (which also has lights and is loud enough that even noise cancellation doesn't muffle it) where I work. Secondly, deaf people are allowed to do the job and they can't hear anything ever.

It truly is all about "looking professional." Why not make me clean toilets in a tuxedo, then?

Oh man, I know this feeling kinda? Not a water moccasin, but a rattlesnake. When I was like 19 or 20, sometimes after high school but before most of my school friends moved away, we were having a big bon fire out in the country, but it was up in the foothills on private land (we were trespassing). The site the fire was at was on the other side of 3 big ass hills and my fat ass had to stop and take a breather at the top of the first one, but nobody else stopped with me and I got left alone for bit. When I finally was ready to move on after about 5-10 minutes, I took 2 steps forward and heard the rattle of a rattlesnake somewhere ahead of me. It was already after sundown at this point, middle of a hilly field about 2 miles from the nearest road, so it was dark as fuck and the hot new phone on the market was the original Motorola RAZR (for those too young to remember: these phones didn't have flashlights and the screen light was dim as fuck).

I just slowly backed away and then tried to call for help but nobody could hear me yelling and I didn't have service to call anyone on the phone. So I basically sat there, all fucking night, too afraid to move and constabtly scanning the ground around me as best I could to make sure no snakes were gonna bite me until the party was over and everyone came back my way.

And then my car wouldn't fucking start when we finally got back to the road. One of the worst nights of my life. 😮‍💨

It's my two dogs' names combined. Loki and Kona. But I also misspelled it and the KOLA should have been a KOLO. KOloNAki.

Why does pain hurt so much there, but it doesn't also come with extra good sense of touch, like being tickled or rubbed? 😩
