Die Planung des Vereines geht aus der Erfahrung hervor, dass feddit.de den Betrieb aus technischen Gründen^TM seit 2 Monaten stark einschränken musste und den Konsequenzen, die wir daraus gezogen haben. Die Server müssen zuverlässig sein, wobei weder ein Gemeinschaft-Migrationstool, noch passives Meckern helfen. Frei nach dem Motto "Tu wat!" haben wir uns also zusammengefunden, um den Besitz der Server zu demokratisieren und die Server zuverlässig zu machen, indem wir sie gemeinsam finanzieren. Was sich darüber hinaus noch entwickelt, ist noch nicht abzusehen, aber soviel ist schonmal geplant.

Mir fällt es in letzter Zeit immer mehr auf, wie viele Dienste die Telefonnummer von einem verlangen, wenn man sich registriert. Ich verstehe zwar den Sinn davon, offziell die Dienste vor Sockenpuppen zu schützen, warum auch immer man das z.B. bei E-Mail-Anbietern tun sollte, und eine zweite Verifikationsstufe hinzuzufügen, aber wenn wir ehrlich sind spielt es doch inoffiziell zumindest eine Rolle, das man alle erdenklichen Daten aus den KundInnen herauspressen möchte. Ich möchte nicht jedem Anbieter eines digitalen Wegwerf-Accounts all meine Daten geben müssen, kennt jemand Mittel dagegen? Gerade wenn es um die Telefonnummer geht, gibt es sehr viele Online-SMS-Dienste, aber davon ist einer unseriöser als der andere...

As you may have heard, Reddit has taken steps toward becoming a publicly traded company with the initial public filing of our registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on February 22, 2024. Yes, it’s happening.

And because you have helped make Reddit what it is today, you now have the opportunity to become Reddit owners at the same price as institutional investors.

We’re offering a Directed Share Program (“DSP”) that invites eligible users and moderators who have contributed to Reddit to participate in our initial public offering (“IPO”). (Including you!) Program Requirements While being selected to pre-register is the first step, there are certain legal and regulatory requirements to participate in the DSP that are outside of Reddit’s control. Bear with us here…

To be eligible for the DSP, you must: • Be a current U.S. resident; o You will be asked to provide the DSP Administrator a valid social security or permanent resident number, along with other personal information.
