Thanks! I would super appreciate that. I found that version, too, and got super hopeful when I did. Imagine my surprise when I played it and it turned out to be Chinese lol.
It should be in the Channel 4 streaming service you'd think, but it isn't for some reason. It's actually a great example of the role piracy has to play in archiving media and data.
The references are going to be a little out of date lol.
There's a channel 4 documentary that sounded interesting from just a couple years ago, like 2022 or something like that, that I can't seem to find where Prue from The Great British Bake-Off is tracking down the family of her adopted child (I watch a lot of GBBO, hence why it sounded interesting). It's so recent and Prue is so famous in the UK, I am surprised how difficult it has been to track down.
Discovered her recently, I think through a video that was a more nuanced take on Feynman that showed up on my feed, and been loving her videos ever since. Highly recommend her takes on science.
I blame a lot of the problems on The Third Way Democrats, like Clinton. Basically they tried to take Republican talking points and the Republicans just went more right. It's also when we got policies like NAFTA which destroyed US manufacturing, emptied a lot of rural and working-class areas, and weakened the Dems connection to labor.
But like you said, we can keep going back and back, to the US reliance on capitalists and imperialism that made these policies inevitable, the failures of Reconstruction, or the compromises made with slave holders back with the founding fathers, etc.
It wasn't as hostile as the US or Nazi Germany, and was way more free for minorities and women than the US, and only self-destructed because of constant interference by the US and liberals getting into power, and it being the first socialist country. It also rose into power way faster than basically any world power in modern history, from a non-industrial economy of mostly peasants farming to going to space in just a few short decades. You're just falling for a lot of Western propaganda.
China is following the same mode of some capitalism with some socialism with lessons learned from the USSR of experiment and is set to overtake the US in basically every way fairly soon, but we'll see how it goes. It's possible they'll make some mistakes, too, but Trump is the President so...
Biden had years to get a ceasefire done and never once demanded it. You can't deny that. The only reason Trump was able to interfere is because Biden took forever, and there was no reason to take the Biden deal because they knew what they would get with Biden - absolute freedom to do whatever they wanted and he wouldn't do anything if they slow rolled it out interfered with the deal. The Biden admin made that obvious and Israel here has confirmed it. The ceasefire failing is awful but we would have never got one in the first place if Biden was still President. And the genocide has lways been escalating. They were already restricting aid during Biden, that's why they tried to do that stupid pier thing that failed, even though they could have demanded Israel open up the roads for aid trucks. It's always been steadily increasing in more destruction, less aid, more dead journalists, more dead UNRWA and other aid workers, etc. It's the same deal as before just in a Trumpian instead of Biden fashion.
The rest of the world needs to learn from the US's failure like this ASAP. I think Europe might already be doomed judging by the way the UK and Germany are going, but others might be able to swerve to avoid a fascist future with the right moves.
Is that an app or what?
Would've loved to see Furiosa but movies are in and out of theaters so quick and then onto streaming. They really need to fix that.
Not everyone has that, though. I'd love that, but a subwoofer with a proper sound system would annoy the hell out of my neighbors. Especially with houses getting harder and harder to buy, I think most people will be renting and they deserve the movie theater experience, too.
But they need d to make it better by enforcing things lkk no cell phones or talking.
Not alone. The only way is to organize. They're often at local Palestine protests, so the trick is to find those, then get connected to people at them.
Jewish Voice for Peace is often at them. Someone else named another organization above. PSL has had a lot over the last year and a half, too.
His Vice President, though? Who Dems miraculously expected to get credit for his successes, but not his failures?
I think they're pretty obviously a troll. Just surprisingly committed to the bit.
It's insane that we have laws forcing us to work with and not criticize a particular foreign sovereign state. It's literal madness, like it breaks my brain lol.
Sure dude. What's happening in the West Bank completely disproves that this has anything to do with Hamas or hostages.
Okay, so you're just playing with words, like a djinn or the devil in every movie they're in lol. A genocide is happening my dude. We all knew what they meant when they kept trying to say they were working for a ceasefire and what they were trying to portray. If they had an intern write a character a day in an eventual handwritten note they would snail mail to Netanyahu's office after a year and a half asking them to politely please stop the attacks, then you'd consider that as them "working everyday" for the ceasefire, when we would know they weren't? Miss me with that shit.
They're not really trying at all for something if they're not using easily available options. If I went to work and said I got nothing done this for two years because I needed some report from some other team that I never actually asked for directly and never emailed them about, it would be fair if everyone thought I lied in my performance review about how hard I worked. That's essentially what this former Israeli ambassador revealed, even though we all kind of knew it anyway.
Contrast that with Trump who came in and immediately started demanding a ceasefire deal. Trump! The biggest fucking biggest idiot in the world. It's how they got one done, even if it only lasted a short time, it was some relief for a bit.
“What happened,” a senior Israeli government official told Channel 14, regarded as a mouthpiece for Netanyahu, “is that Witkoff delivered a stern message from the incoming president of the United States, who unequivocally demanded the deal’s conclusion.”
Writing in the daily newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth this week, Nadav Eyal summed up the situation confronting Israel’s prime minister and his closest aides. “Netanyahu … suddenly came to recognise precisely where it is that they stand with the new American president. They came to realise that Trump speaks at dictation pace, and they will never be able to outflank him from the right. Trump, once again, wants a deal.” The Guardian
Bide never demanded shit.
Ooh, this is a good one.
That wouldn't be tirelessly working for a ceasefire at all.
