Sony Xperia 1 vi presentation slides leaked - MyTechRoundUp
  • "Only"? the last two releases doesn't bode well for the next release. And the whole point would be to have flagship specs and custom ROMs. Releases older than two years don't have flagship specs anymore.

  • The hardware of Sony phones has been so attractive over the years. I had the Z3 & XZ1 years ago and they were great.

However, the software is lacking. They don't commit to long term OS/security updates.

The price is also far too high for just a slab.

This means that there are no ROMs that support recent flagship Sony devices.

Honestly they don't have to lower the price. If they just opened up the software I would make the jump.

I'm holding onto the OnePlus 7 Pro for dear life because newer devices feel like such a compromise; great hardware and software is locked down to hinder ROM development or great ROM support and weak hardware.

  • A West Bank village feels helpless after Israeli settlers attack with fire and bullets
  • From a practical sense, they don't. The IDF has a history of protecting violent settlers who attack Palestinians and will attack those Palestinians if they try to defend themselves.

The US would absolutely not send defensive weapons to Palestinians. The US government is too close to the Israeli government.

Even at this moment the US says they don't approve of how Israel is waging this war, while they're using weapons the US sent them...

  • I feel a law that would go a long way would be to force companies to release code, drivers, and designs of any product they no longer support. That includes Intellectual Property. If you no longer support a product, then you don't need the IP used on it.

We either get everything we need to use EOL products however we want, or companies support products much longer to protect their IP.

  • why does trump support putin so much
  • People throw rumors around that Putin could have material for blackmail on him RE Golden Shower tapes and business dealings with Russian Oligarchs.

Another, simpler theory is that since he also throws compliments toward other Dictators as well as Putin is that he just admires their ability to do what they want.

  • Are you excited for the S24 announcement?
  • If you're only problem with your current phone is the battery, maybe look into replacing the battery.

Either DIY or bring it to a reputable repair shop.

I just replaced the battery of my OnePlus 7 Pro (and a backup OnePlus 7 Pro also) myself. Was a lot easier than I thought and now the battery life is great again.

The SD865 in it is more than capable to tackle anything I do (no heavy gaming or other resource heavy tasks) so instead of spending $800+ on a new phone I spent $25 on a battery.

I'm also running a custom ROM (crDroid) so I don't have FOMO on the latest software.

I was going to use the built-in OpenVPN in TrueNAS until I found out it's going to be deprecated.

I only really need it for the qbitorrent/transmission and prowlarr/jackett (haven't decided yet) apps in TrueNAS, so I don't know what the next best option is.

I have found plenty of documentation on how to use the integrated OpenVPN feature of TrueNAS, but since the announcement of it's deprecation and future elimination is only ~2 months old, I haven't found any new documentation yet on alternate methods.

I see stuff about tailscale but that doesn't seem to be what I'm trying to do.

    Thanks.

With the recent developments of Phillips Hue, I feel like more people should look into Shelly devices. I have a few and they're great.

Shelly is proud of their devices being:

    • No hub neeeded
    • Not required to be online
    • Compatible all major hubs if you do want to connect them.

I do not work for Shelly. I just really like how I don't have to use an app for them and they're compatible with seemingly everything. I've bought the devices and I can do what I want with them.

I had owned two of their smart plugs for a couple of years and they decided to stop responding to resetting and could talk to them. Shelly support sent out two new plugs for me and asked for the defective ones back so they could troubleshoot them. Great service.

Just seems that privacy-centric people should be using privacy focused devices.

They are headquartered in Germany so very unlikely they'll go back on their offline compatibility anytime soon.

Took my original design and thickened it for sturdiness. Printed in transparent filament to give a good effect in the dark.

Can we add keyboard shortcuts for navigation? Like upvoting/downvoting

I'm not going to sit here and pretend that reddit doesn't have some great features, this being one of my favorites.

The ones I use the most:

    • A for upvote
    • Z for downvote
    • J to highlight next post
    • K to highlight previous post.

Makes browsing very fast. Typically I click through all the links to different tabs and when I return to the homepage tab I use these shortcuts to fly through all of them and vote so I can refresh the page and they all disappear while still having contributed.

Designed a Tented Corne Case with an added switch and supporting a larger battery.

I provided Solidworks files if anyone wants to modify.

This is a 7.5 degree tent. I also provide .STLs for 10 & 15 degrees.
