  • The other day, I was chatting on a Discord server about how people manage their photos, which keep piling up each year. I asked which cloud service they use, and one person replied, 'Save them offline.' That really struck me because I haven't invested in offline storage devices in years, and I realized I wasn't storing anything offline.

  • How do you get motivated in the morning?
  • I am trying both the ways nowadays. Sometimes I wake up early to avoid the rush and I feel so groggy waking up earlier than usual that I slow-mo the morning routine. Sometimes when I wake up little late, I'm fully wake from the get go that I manage to rush through the routine. In both cases I reach the end around similar times. I am not sure which one I prefer, maybe not sticking to one makes the morning a little less boring.

  • I think they happen naturally if you are visiting same place weekly at the same time. The waiter/cashier/or anyone who is regular to that coffee shop would try to initiate some interaction with you.

  • me_irl
  • Visit a 'third space' at a consistent time weekly, e.g. coffee shop, bar, library, gym (note: the point is not to practice pickup lines, it's to get used to being around people. If you go regularly, you'll start to feel comfortable with the other regulars)

Level 1: Go outside Level 2: Go outside regularly Level 3: Respond to interactions Level 4: Initiate interactions Level 5: Make friends

I wish I could get to Level 2 at least.

  • People Ask Why Some Root Their Device and For Me This is Why
  • I am a root user, yes but I only use it for migrate, a custom rom backup & restore tool.

Coming to Tasker, I tried so hard to figure it out but couldn't do it for my use case of having custom gestures. I like to have profiles depending on whether I am home or outside, will give it one more shot for this.

  • It's never been a better time to switch to Firefox
  • I have this extension and I always thought it's duty was to contain Amazon services from interacting with my other sites i.e., stop Amazon trackers. Can you explain to me more how to use container tabs?

  • What Lemmy Client(s) Do You Use?
  • I use Connect too and I consider myself as bit of a power user(have 6 clients installed my phone). Connect has all the features or even more than any other client. The horizontal swipe to navigate the posts is my favourite and probably only client that has this feature.

  • Top 10 anime of the week - Anime Corner
  • My comment will be so contradictory to the replies you have got but bare with me. I started Bleach like an year ago due to the TYBW hype. But now that I have completed Bleach, I don't want to watch more of it. Personally I feel Bleach should've ended at the Aizen Arc. Everything after seemed so pointless and a drag on.

Aizen arc too wasn't that great imo. So much lag and I had to skip few canon episodes because how dragged the story is. Story was so uninteresting to the point where I asked my friends for spoilers to encourage me to complete the Aizen arc. Bleach is a really bad anime in my book and I shouldn't have picked this one first, of the 2000's Big 3.

  • [Release][v1.6.2] Improved
  • It's a feature which is available on the official reddit app. Basically when you tap and open a post, you view the post fully along with comments and when you swipe right on the post you go to the next post. Swipe left to go back to the previous post.

It's on Connect for Lemmy app as well and probably only Lemny which tried to implement that feature.

  • YSK that there is a dedicated general community on lemmy.world where you can posts your general thoughts on lemmy, reddit etc

Why YSK: I have seeing been a lot of general posts on various communities where they don't belong. There is a perfect community for this.

    Posts like:

"Feels like I am spending less time on social media after joining lemmy" on ShowerThoughts community. This is a not a shower thought. This is more of a general thought which belongs in !general@lemmy.world

"This is not a shitpost but I am loving lemmy" on lemmyshitpost community. This is not even a thought sharing community yet it has been posted and been upvoted to frontpage. This belongs in !general@lemmy.world too.

I hope the moderators of all communities tighten up a bit and help posts go where they belong.

Why don't we use PeerTube to host the videos for Lemmy/kbin?

Would sound stupid as I don't indepth of PeerTube yet but I have heard that PeerTube is federated video sharing platform. I also heard it can't hold much a load which makes sense as HD videos takes lots of load. That begs me the question why don't we use it for small/short videos(not those vertical videos) to build communities like r/combinedgifs, r/whenthe or r/funnyvideos which are video driven communities?

Since we only need at max 2-3min of HD content per post to run these communities, I wouldn't assume it would be much of a load. With this we don't have to depend on third party embedding platforms like imgur(we know what happened over there recently).

Also someone make a community like the ones I've mentioned. I am missing video content here on fediverse!

This is my first post as well in fediverse :)
