I wish I retained all the things I learn. I learn and learn and learn, but unfortunately then I forget and forget and forget. Leaving me with no knowledge about the wide array of interesting subjects I’ve poured hours of my life into learning about.

Absolutely. Chances are that what you need is a library card from your local public library. When trying to learn more about graphene semiconductors, I couldn't find the paper that was referenced in articles anywhere that wasn't paywalled. After a contemplating for a while I checked my library's site and, sure enough, they offer free, searchable access to academic journals.

Depends entirely on what you're researching, and how "deep" you're researching.
"Just" a Internet connection, will get you extremely far nowadays though.
That's also how I develop stuff.
Once I tried to look up how to exit a fullscreen mode under the Windows API, then I realized I haven't even started cursor support, nor icons.
Take away “really good research skills,” and this feels pretty relatable.
I think it makes sense if we translate those research “skills” to something more ADHD like “an inability to stop reading random interesting things online and work on whatever the thing is I’m supposed to be doing.”
