Ita a new user who is figuring out how Lemmy works. Marxism, or any political opinion for that matter, is not mentioned anywhere there.
Is there anything to suggest the user is a Marxist, much less a tankie? They just seem new to the Fediverse.
The first hit with Searx for 'lemmy' is https://join-lemmy.org , so far so good. Then you have two buttons 'Join a Server' 'See All Servers'.
I'm new, dafuq is a server? And why would I want to join one? I just want to Lemmy.
Why are there two options? Couldn't I have all the options together? Are some servers better than others? Why do I want a server, I still don't know what it is. Why don't these people talk to these people? Do I want to talk to them? Yes/no/why.
The onboarding is still very confusing. I am OK with Lemmy at its current size, many want to see substantial growth (I'm OK with that too). For that to happen I think the documentation needs to be easier to follow. Lay out how and why things work in an easily parsed way.
Things have settled quite a bit since the Reddit API fiasco but it is still a bit of a clusterfuck. I'm posting from my very stable main, but my first 3 accounts are lost to the ether. .fmhy, latte.is.not.coffee, and I can't remember the third.
Sorry to jump on your post, I just did so because I agree, and for visibility. I promise to eat off a Trencher for dinner as way of apology.

Porn is inherently exploitative and is for western bourgeoise propagandists блять, or something equally as "not fun" I'm sure. "No porn, you must make baby for revolution, we need people to trick!"
Ml blocks NSFW? Why? It's one of the least likely places to come across a differing opinion.
"I like big butts."
"Big tits are obviously superior."
Fighting breaks out
They also won’t let you say bad words
Anyone remember that time they had a bot that would auto-censor peoples comments?
Honestly the entire community there is made of wet tissue paper
Porn is a lot of extra admin headaches if all you really want is to host discussions.
For example, even though they prize free speech, I could see a science focused instance making the same choice.
I recall there being controversy with one of the communities (I believe it was /c/AdorablePorn) where lemmy.ml (I think it was lemmy.ml) admins claimed that the entire point of the community is to promote content that looks like underage content/CSAM £child sexual abuse material) without actually being it. This was also around the time that CSAM spam was a network-wide issue that almost all lemmy servers were dealing with. The lemmy.ml staff demanded the banishment of that community, the lemmynsfw staff basically said "No, that's not the point of the community at all, that's idiotic" and lemmy.ml just elected to defederate.
It might have been c/fauxbait, in which case they had a point.

Also, no swearing on this Christian server.
